How can we install a driver with the help of the device manager?
First what we need to do is open the device manager.
We can do it either from the program DriverPack Solution or by pressing 'Start', right-click on the 'Computer', 'Manage'.
We are in the device manager, where we will be installing drivers for our device.
In order to find the drivers you can use the program DriverPack Solution,
the notebook catalog on http://drp.su or the service Devid.Drp.Su.
Let us discuss the last item in a bit more detail.
In order to use this service go to the device manager, choose the device, go to 'Details' tab
and in the menu choose 'Hardware Ids'. This Id will help us to find the drivers.
Copy the Id to clipboard and paste it in the search box on Devid.Drp.Su.
That is the information on finding drivers through this service.
If you have a downloaded driver and you just want to install it,
then go back to the device manager and choose the necessary device.
Go to the 'Driver' tab and press 'Update'.
In a window that pops up choose the second option, 'Browse my computer for driver software'.
Then specify the folder where the driver is stored and press 'Next'.
But there is a small trick here: if we specify the folder where the driver is stored,
Windows will automatically determine whether this driver is suitable for the computer or not.
It will compare the drivers' versions, year of issue, combinability and other features.
And if Windows determines that the driver is not suitable for the system it will just ignore the installation.
But quite frequently Windows is mistaken and refuses to install a driver,
while you are 100% sure that it is perfectly functional and that it suits your computer.
For instance it can happen when you have a newer version of the driver installed, but for some reason it stopped functioning,
and now you want to go back to the old driver, choose it, but Windows refuses
to install it due to a newer driver already being installed.
In order to force Windows to install the driver, choose the option 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer',
then press 'Have disk' and here you can finally specify the path to our driver.
In this case the driver will be installed irrespectively of combinability, version and other features.
That is the information on installing drivers through the device manager.
It is worth mentioning that the program DriverPack Solution also allows you to install drivers manually.
To do that we should open the program, check the option 'Expert Mode',
go to the 'Drivers' section, pick the right device and press 'Manual installation'.
In the appearing window press 'Unpack'.
Thus we have found a driver for our device from the catalog of the program.
In other words, we were not using the internet, but only the database of the program DriverPack Solution.
Once the necessary driver is unpacked press the button 'Ctrl+C', thereby copying the path to the file to clipboard.
After that we go back to the device manager, pick the right device and paste the address to our driver right here.
Pressing the OK button will install the driver to your computer.
