Keys for optimal sports performance
Good afternoon my friends. Today I would like to speak about the essential keys for optimal sports performance.
These keys are valid for any sport that is aligned with the high performance.
We should also know, that to apply any kind of improvement in the athlete;
the athlete must have a real awareness of change, and undertake with determination and responsibility the pertinent modifications.
I want to talk about three keys, which in my opinion are important to improve the attitude, the quality and performance of the athlete.
Firstly, we have the mental attitude, very important thing.
The mind supposes the switch of the physical aspect.
It's impossible to display the range of physical potential of the athlete;
Before the athlete, believes and trust that he has these qualities to work well mentally.
He must be able to see such self-limitations that his mind puts him in his performance.
Find that small saboteur, which puts constraints and generates unfounded doubts about his performance.
The athlete can dominate this saboteur, adopting an observer's position.
This means, that the athlete must be positioned as an outside observer of the situation.
Seeing the mental noise from an objective position, and not providing valuations or judgments of any kind.
By adopting this technique, the athlete will realize that this voice that emanates from his mind,
it's not his real self, but rather a spectrum which judges and disturbs without cease.
It's not his identity, but rather a shadow of it.
The second idea, which I would like to explain, is the vocabulary and the internal vision of the athlete.
Within the athlete, there are two selves who converge each other.
First, it's the self that speaks. A self that judges, dictates standards, rules and guidelines of how to execute the actions.
In second place, it's the self that performs the action.
We must take conscience of the situation, and go beyond this voice that speaks to us.
The relationship between these two selves,
It's the main factor, to determine our ability to convert our knowledge that we have of the technique, in effective action that produces good results.
The key to progress, resides in improving substantially the relation between these two selves.
We must try to silence this voice that judges, and give prominence to the self that performs the action.
We must also visualize clearly and accurately the outcome that we want to see.
At the moment of realizing the action, we must visualize the wished result, as if it had already been executed.
This gives us greater concentration and increased perception of the details of the moment;
tending to choose this way the most suitable option.
We find ourselves, in this sense, on the active side of the possibility that we should;
and so we achieve, an harmony and balance in the execution.
The third key aspect that I would like to comment, is delegating intuition and creativity in the athlete.
We must let the athlete, use more visual and spontaneous knowledge at the expense of technical aspects.
Natural learning is one that takes advantage of all the determinants, determinants that the verbal orders cannot perceive.
This is due to the fact, that the verbal orders focus the action of a closed manner and determined, that not allows to go beyond the action itself.
We must allow the athlete, to enjoy what he does without feeling added pressure in the performance.
To be able to consciously appreciate every moment and what it means for his ultimate goal.
We must generate in the athlete, a more detached wiew from the expectations, and bring the best of his repertoire out.
And finally, establish habits and creative routines that generate novelty, desire and enthusiasm.
Move away from the stagnation that assumes, workouts with rigid and inflexible structures.
We must manage to adapt the training to the qualities and potentialities of the athlete.
To a certain extent, the training is like education. If we standardize, the potential of the person will be reduced.
