Putting your layout together.
For this layout, you’ll use the Dreamin’ kit,
the Super Star™ pattern, and Kit Mix 1.
Hi there! Welcome to this episode of Love Your Layout
where I’ll walk you through the creation of a
Studio J layout from start to finish.
You can see I’ve already picked my kit, pattern, and kit mix,
and dropped in my adorable photos. So let’s finish
putting the layout together. First, I’m going to open my
Paper drop-down menu. Watch as I select this first
Background and Texture paper, or B&T paper, and drag and
drop it over one of the stars. There, wasn’t that easy?
Now, I’m going to mat my photos. First, I’ll click on the
focal photo on the left page, and then under “Mat,”
I’ll choose 1/4" and change the color to Chocolate.
I’m going to do the same thing on my other photos,
except I’m going to make those 1/8" in Chocolate.
I love how easy it is to change the size and color of my photo mats,
so I can get the right look for my layout.
If a different color works better for you, give it a try!

Next, I’m going to colorize some of my toggle accents,
which are the pre-placed accents on my layout.
See these three brads next to the star on my right page?
I’m just going to click on one of them, choose the color box,
and you’ll notice this button down here that says
“All like items” is automatically selected.
That means when I change this brad to be Goldrush,
all of the other brads on my layout will also become Goldrush.
Now I’m going to delete these staples,
two on my left page and two on my right page... There we go!
Now I’m going to show you how to layer My Stickease® images.
Now that we’ve got our basic layout there, let’s start embellishing!
First, I’m going to add a few borders, so let’s go to our
My Stickease® drop-down menu and select “Borders.”
I’m going to use the second border, but feel free to use whichever
border you feel looks best with your layout.
I’m just going to drop it on my layout, and then
rotate it to the right with the circle arrow so it’s vertical.
Now watch as I right-click the border and select “Send to back.”
This will send my border to the back layer of my layout,
which is behind my photos. I’ll just line it up next
to the Chocolate strip of cardstock. Then, I’m going to
make sure my border is still selected, and click “Copy” and “Paste.”
I’ll just take that border, rotate it to the opposite way,
and then send it to the back on the right page of my layout,
placing it on the edge of the Chocolate cardstock. There!
Now, I’m going to open the Medium Accents in My Stickease,
and select this Crystal Blue flower in the second row.
I’ll drop it onto the left page of my layout and then
resize it to about 200 percent. I’ll place it behind the
bottom right point of my star and rotate it until I get it how I want it.
Now I’m going to copy and paste that flower and move it down
my page until it’s to the left of the second star on the left page.
Again, I’ll rotate it around until I get it how I like it.
I’ll do that same thing two more times and add the flowers to my right page.
(no audio)
Now, I’m going to click each flower and select “Send to back.”
I love how I can layer My Stickease to add some depth and texture to my layout.
I’m just going to add a few more My Stickease,
so let’s go to the Small Accents and drag this first heart over
on to the star on the right page. I’m going to resize it
to about 125 percent and tilt it to the left just a bit.
Perfect. I’m also going to add this Pacifica accent — that looks
a lot like a button — to my star on the left page.
Then I’ll copy and paste it to the right side of my heart accent
on the right page. There we go. Watch as I add a little something
to those accents by going to my Embellishments drop-down,
selecting metals, and adding a Goldrush medium brad to the center
of both of my Pacifica accents. Cute, huh?
One of my favorite things about Studio J is how easy it is to resize
the different My Stickease so that I have the flexibility
to get the look I want.
In this section, I’ll show you how to add
your journaling and use the Quick Title Tool.
Okay, you can see I added my journaling.
I just used two different text boxes from the Text drop-down menu.
I did the “I love” title in Corner Shop font size 80,
and then I did the journaling under that in the same
Corner Shop font and sized it in 20. Over here on my right page,
you’ll see I’ve added a bracket from the Tags section under My Stickease.
I also added the flowers from the Large Accents section
and resized them to about 30 percent. To finish it off,
I put a text box with the girls' names over the My Stickease
bracket and flowers. I also did that in the Cornershop font, size 20.
Now, I’m going to finish my layout by adding the title.
I’ll stay in the Text drop-down menu and I’m going to
use the quick-title tool. I’ll just click it and drag it
it on to my layout and type “two.” Then, I’m going to make sure
it’s sized at 100 percent with a spacing of 25 pixels,
and I’ll just move it down to the star on my right page.
I’ll do the same thing again and drag and drop the
quick-title tool onto my page. This time, I’ll type “of a”
and put the size at 50 percent and the spacing at 25 pixels.
I’m going to place it right below “two.”
Last, I’ll grab the quick-title tool again and type “kind.”
I’ll make sure the size is 100 percent and the spacing is 25 pixels,
and then I’ll just place it down right below “of a”
to create one title that now says, “two of a kind.”
And I’m done with my layout! Wasn’t that easy?
I love how the gold and brown tones in this layout
remind me a bit of autumn, and yet they're so versatile
you can use them for almost any photo theme—
like two cute little girls! Log in to Studio J and try it out today!
