Hey! Welcome back in the second part of my Sydney 2000 Walkthrough.
We have last 4 events to talk over. Let's get it started.
First is WOMEN'S 10 METRE PLATFORM DIVING
We've got to set up our dive list. In this case it will be only one dive.
These I'm flippin' are movement groups. They're sorted by starting position and dive direction.
These are acrobatic movements in specific dive.
And this is degree of difficulty. Higher degree means more difficult dive, but judge scores will be multiplied by this degree.
There are 7 judges. Highest and lowest notes from them are tossed. Rest of notes are summed and multiplied.
So imagine: You've just performed a dive with 2.0 degree of difficulty and got highest notes.
10 from almost every judge, the highest and the lowest are tossed, the rest of them are summed...
50 multiplied by 0,6...
30 multiplied by degree of difficulty 2,0...
60 points.
Now imagine you've just performed the most difficult dive 3.5 and got circa 8 from every judge.
The highest and the lowest are tossed, the rest of them are summed...
40 multiplied by 0,6...
24 multiplied by degree of difficulty 3,5...
84 points.
See? It's worth to risk more difficult dive and get lower notes than getting highest notes for less difficult dive.
By the way: These dives are very simple for us as a players, so I suggest choosing dives with the highest degree of difficulty to your dive list.
OK, how to play: This time we're not building power. It builds itself.
To set up power press ENTER. More power - higher notes. Let's slow it down.
At this position, when legs will be almost match to the line, press DOWN arrow to continue the dive.
ALWAYS press DOWN arrow for the blue line, called Roll.
At this position, when legs will be almost match to the line, press UP arrow to continue the dive.
ALWAYS press UP arrow for the green line, called Twist.
At this position, when legs will be almost match to the line, press LEFT arrow to continue the dive.
ALWAYS press LEFT arrow for the red line, called Position.
Don't watch the legs to know when you have to press key in every dive. This solution is only for this dive.
You will gain some kind of instinct after few dives, so don't worry about that.
Nice score. Now I'll do the same dive, but with weak power to show y'all how important power is.
Assusme, that I did the same moves as in previous dive. What's the score?
Big difference, isn't it?
Don't press key too late or too soon. Otherwise you'll overflip, overjump, overthrow (I don't know how to say it in english) the dive.
Of course this is extremely situation, but anything can happen. If you press wrong key or don't press it in the right time,
the line won't disappear. You will have to press correct key to continue.
You shouldn't have problems with this event. It's nice and easy even on the hardest difficulty.
OK, next event is...
MEN'S WEIGHT LIFTING
Build power as usual. Keep building until red reach first green bar.
When green bar starts blinking press ENTER to start lifting.
DO NOT STOP TAPPING ARROWS WHILE PRESSING ENTER!!! You must build power all the time!
After first phase reach the second green bar. DON'T PRESS ENTER! Let the guy stand up.
Press ENTER when green bar starts blinking.
Now all you have to do is keep the power above the second green bar during 3 seconds.
These 3 circles are the seconds. When all turn white - you've done it.
Watch the timer! You must lift this weight correctly, before time's up.
Do not press ENTER too fast, when you don't have enough power to lift.
You must have 3 circles fulfilled to pass this lift correctly. You can't have only 2 circles, BUT
if 2 circles are white and one is red - you'll pass. I don't remember if it's possible in this game.
After passing green bar you can't go below it or you'll fail the lift.
But after standing up, when second bar is blinking, you can slow tapping tempo a bit to rest
and try again after few seconds. So you must be between the bars.
Like in High Jump event you have 3 attempts to lift the weight.
After correct lift you decide to quit or to lift heavier weight.
And of course after setting the wieght you must lift it. You can't change the weight (to lower) after first try,
so think twice before you set it.
Heavier weight requires more power. So these 2 bars will be more and more to the right.
The best way to set the weight correctly is watching how far is your power from the second bar,
when you have to wait 3 seconds in standing position.
And the next event...
MEN'S OLYMPIC SPRINT CYCLING
This time the bar is not the power bar - it's stamina. To set cycling tempo press arrows just like in building power.
There's no power bar, so you'll have to press them instinctively, watching stamina bar and speedometer.
Bigger tapping tempo - faster cycling tempo. You can't false start in this event.
3 laps to go.
Slow tapping tempo causes increase of stamina. Same as not pressing keys.
Watch the speedometer. You're cycling very slow.
At this moment, after full circle, press ENTER to switch the cyclist.
Not pressing ENTER causes extremely decrease of stamina. You must be between these lines to correct change.
Lines are also in half lap, so don't confuse them. Zooming out camera will definitely help.
Don't press ENTER in final lap.
Fast tempo decreases stamina. You're cycling very fast right now. Look at the speedometer.
IMPORTANT NOTE: While fast cycling stamina reacts with delay.
Stop tapping or slow the tempo and stamina will be still decreasing for a while.
When you're out of stamina, just don't press nothing and wait for recovery.
I won't press ENTER. Watch how I'll lose all of my stamina because of it.
Find your own strategy. It's very important if you wanna win.
One more thing: While racing with other team look at these markers.
They show teams positions on the track. They move to the right along this black line.
In this case it means I'm losin'. Opponents are in half way.
But in this case I'm winnin' just before the finish line.
And finally the last event...
KAYAK SLALOM
This time we're not building power. Press UP to row forward,
DOWN to row backwards, LEFT and RIGHT to steer left and right
and ENTER to avoid - I don't use it.
Event rules are very simple. All we have to do is row through gates as fast as we can, trying to get no penalties.
We always have to row forward thru' the gate with green posts.
But if you see gate with red posts and crossed out number DON'T GO THROUGH!
It means you must go around the gate and go thru' it from the other side, which has red posts also, but clean number.
It ain't matter how you will go thru' the gate. Rowing forward, backwards or even flow with the river,
perpendicular to the gate.
The fastest run wins the competition, but you must be very careful. You can easily get some penalties.
Penalty is extra seconds added to your time for commiting foul. How big is penalty? And how to earn it?
We get 2 extra seconds for EVERY post we hit. Sometimes you can touch the same post 3 times,
which gives you 6 seconds added to your time.
We get 50 extra seconds for EVERY wrong way through the gate.
And we get 50 seconds also for gate missed. I'll be honest:
Get triple 50 and you don't have any chances to win the competition. With double 50 it'll be very, very hard.
And the last important message:
After clearing red gate don't go through it again from the wrong way side. You must go around the gate.
Otherwise you'll get 50 seconds, even if you've cleared this gate.
Watch the river, observe how it flows and practice.
After few plays you'll get that instinct and you'll know how and where to row.
GOOD LUCK!
That's all from me in this tutorial. Thanks for watching everybody!
In next parts I'll finally show Olympic Walkthrough. Look forward to it!
PEACE!
