Hi, I'm Amanda with BulbAmerica.com
This video is about the FEL bulb.
The FEL bulb has 1000 watts 120 volts A G9.5 base with a CC8 filiment.
Now,I want to point out A few major brands that produce this bulb.
We're looking at GE,USHIO,OSRAM,and PLATINUM.
All these Manufactuers produce or build their bulb a little differently.
So now i want to talk a little deeply about the FEL bulb.
If we look at the filiments of the bulb, all the filiments
They look almost identical, while do vary somewhat
But this is just the manufacturers way of building the bulb
And it doesn't acutally increase or decrease the quality of the light output or the bulb itslef.
You will also notice that there are A few different bases
These aren't different base types, their just A different way of building them.
Some of them are made out of aluminum, and you see there's one made out of ceramic
And some of them also have a longer notch in the front or two smaller notches
Or one small notch or one dot
But again, this does not affect the quality or light output of the bulb
Also, another thing you want to keep in mind is that if you want to go lower in wattage
When it comes to the FEL bulb, you want to use an HEG bulb
This is the perfect replacement
The FEL bulb has 1000 Watts and the HEG bulb has 750 Watts
So now, let me take the Osram bulb for example
So now we have two Osram bulbs,One is an HEG and the other is an FEL
The one thing to remember when downgrading the bulb or the wattage
Is that you want to make sure you have the same voltage, the same base, and filiment
The HEG is actually 120 volts G9.5 Base and A CC8 filiment
The only difference is it's wattage
You have A perfect replacement for the FEL bulb when you want to downgrade your wattage.
The last thing to remember is when your pulgging in your bulb you never what to handle it
By the glass itslef, you always want to pulg the bulb into a socket by it's base
This would insure that you don't break the bulb, because at it's weakest point
Is where the base and the glass meet
So you just want to make sure that you're handling it by it's base
The last thing I want to mention, although these aren't different manufacturers
They all produce the same bulbs, so they're all 100% interchangable with one another
If you once had a GE bulb and now your going to switch over to a Platninum bulb
They're 100% interchangable so you will receive the same quality of light output
