There is something also referred to as a "cross-contour line", and what that actually means is that
you are drawing around the form. Rather than drawing the outline of the form, here's that
circle, we want it to be a sphere, so rather than drawing that outline, I'm going to do
a very light one so I don't lose my sphere, I'm going to draw around it. That's a cross-contour
line, it's going across the surface of the form. And, of course, because I'm describing
a sphere, those lines have to be curved. And then you can add in if you want, some shadow
to make that more, but that's what cross-contour means, it's going around the form. So here
we have our leaf stalk, well a twig or a branch is basically round, so again, to say that,
rather than using this vertical line, you're going to describe it by going around the branch.
And you can do this in very thick lines, obviously that's rather heavy-handed, you can do it
in very quick lines or partial lines, you don't even have to go all the way around.
But again, this is cross-contour, because it's not staying to the outside of the form,
it's going across the form, it's going around it instead of going on the outside.
