I am trying to capture the essence
of what it really means to breastfeed. It's a bond that nobody else can have
and that is priceless.
Breastfeeding is amazing between a mother and baby. There's so many benefits
to be had
not just for the baby but also for the mother.
Also the idea of bonding between the mom and the baby, there's nothing in the world
like a
mother sitting down to breastfeed her baby, just the bond that is there that you
cannot get any other way.
I didn't think that I was going to enjoy breastfeeding for so long
because I just didn't know how we would both react to it. There are a lot of myths
to go along with breastfeeding. Sometimes when I talk to a mom about breastfeeding
she'll say, "Ooh, I don't know if that's for me." and I'll say, "Why? Let's talk about this.
Why would breastfeeding not be for you?"
Those are just a myths. Is it the easiest thing you've ever done?
Probably not. Is it the thing that's the most worth doing?
Absolutely. I chose to breastfeed because
I realized that it was probably the best nutrition for my baby.
I knew that it was going to be the best way to feed her and for us to bond.
The support that we have received throughout the pregnancy and then
in giving birth to our child has been amazing.
We offer a free weight check for moms to
to bring the baby back to the three days post-discharge. That its also
a time just to check to make sure everything's going well. We also have two
support groups available every week.
Everyone there is breastfeeding their baby so it's a wonderful resource just to
hang out, talk about different things, and learn how to best breastfeed your baby
and have a great experience with that. Community Hospital offering this group
it is just a great need I think in our community.
It helps financially because it's free obviously, so that's a plus, and just
being around the other moms, that even have older kids, you can ask them questions about something that could come up.
Right away we even have a group on Facebook where we are able to connect
with one another.
The support that I have received here has been
way more than I ever expected. The breastfeeding experience between a mom and baby
is amazing. There's nothing else that compares to it.
You can think about the money, you can think about the health benefits,
but think about the bond. It is a way to bond and connected with your baby
that nothing else can do.
We here at Community Hospital Anderson, we're here to help you with that
experience. We're here to help you be successful,
and help you meet your goals with breastfeeding.
