My name is Niels Duinker and as you can see, this week I am working here at a cruise ship.
Well, here's a little tip that might save you, it definitely saved me.
Whenever you have to embark a ship, in a "weird" port, for example, Egypt, India, those kind
of countries, make sure that you always email the port agent, like a day before you arrive.
Because one time, I had, the ship's engine broke down, and the ship just couldn't make
it in port. I emailed the port agent and I got a response, no, no, no, the ship is not
coming here, in Safaga, so I had to go to port-side, stay there three days in a hotel.
Had I did not emailed him, I would have flown into Safaga and at the airport, nobody would
be waiting for me and I would be stuck there and it would be horrible.
Just because I emailed the port agent, like one day before, I got his notice and I was
all fine. So definitely make sure, it is a little effort, but not much, but it could
save you big time if you need it.
