[Voice Over] Dr. Robert Rudolph professor emeritus from the department of English -- was
selected as January's Jefferson Award winner for outstanding community service.
Dr. Rudolph or Dr. Bob as he is called by members of the organization NAMI or the
National Alliance for Mental Illness.
NAMI is a grass roots organization -- created in the 1970s -- for those caring for family
members and loved ones with mental illness by providing support, education, and
advocacy.
Dr. Bob first got involved with the organization after his daughter utilized the support group.
[Dr. Bob] When you teach English you do a lot of interaction a lot of interaction
and you listen to people you respond to people and it's kind of basically what I do on
Monday nights -- you know I just listen and respond.
