What's up Guys?
Welcome to another episode from TastySauces.com. I am your host Billy D
and we have been doing a lot of barbeque sauces lately but
what has been intriguing me is every time I walk down the barbecue sauce aisle i always see a few barbeque
sauces
that you recognize the big liquor names but you kind of wonder how they are
going to taste on your food so
i decided to take this episode and we're looking at a couple bourbon
specifically Kentucky bourbon bbq sauces.
The first one we have is Jim Beam
and the second one we have is Wild Turkey
I've obviously had a couple of drinks from these in the past. I am not a huge drinker
but I
definitely like their liquor so I thought it would be worth giving the barbecue sauces a try.
Taking a look at the Jim Beam BBQ Sauce, as far as the ingredients, it's got
some tomato paste in there, vinegar, sugar, molasses, spices
It looks like it's definitely tomato based
It has even got some fruit concentrates as it's got grapes, pears, apples, water
and its got that famous Jim Beam bourbon flavor
Let's go ahead and check it out.
Let's give it the smell test and make sure it is not too strong
It has got a nice little smoky smell to it
It pours out really good from the bottle. It is not too thick of a sauce. was off
Actually, its really smooth.
a really smooth taste
It is kind of sweet and tangy, not really spicy
you can taste just a little bit of that bourbon flavor there but
not enough to be overwhelming but pretty tasty
You did real good Jim Beam. I am going to give this one a 4 out 5. I was a little scared at
first because of the whole bourbon ingredient but
pretty tasty stuff. Definitely a 4 pointer on the scale of personal preference
As far as spiciness it's relatively mild so
I'd give it a 1 on the spicy scale.
It's definitely pretty good stuff. If you like Jim Beam you are definitely going to like that sauce.
Now looking at the Wild Turkey, this one looks a little lighter in color
as far as ingredients, it is tomato based as well.
its got corn syrup, vinegar, molasses,
a little Wild Turkey bourbon in there. Not just flavoring, the real deal.
its got food starch, spices, salt,
lemon juice, a little mustard and a little garlic in there.
I'm interested to try this one out. It has even got a little cork in there.
i smell a little bit more of the bourbon flavor in this one.
This sauce is pretty thick
compared to that other stuff.
I can taste the mustard in there
I don't think I quite like it as much as the Jim Beam
not bad
i wouldn't say this is my favorite stuff
I'd definitely go with the Jim Beam over it
I would probably give the Wild Turkey a
3.5 out of 5 stars. As far as the spicy scale, it's relatively mild and I would probably give ti a
1 on the spicy scale.
Definitely if you guys have tried out these sauces and like them, definitely speak up or if you don't like them
definitely let me know
Make sure and tune into our next episode as we're doing a couple beer flavored barbecue sauces
so
make sure and check back in and thank you for watching. Bye!
