I was working in the industry as a construction project manager. And then the recession hit
our industry and I found myself laid off without a job, and unemployed for over a year. My
options were slim in this economy, so I decided a trip to college to get an Associates Degree
in construction management would really probably get me working again. I went ahead, enrolled
in the first quarter, and applied for some scholarships which I was awarded. Since that
time I have managed to accumulate many scholarships which have paid for my education. I expect
to graduate in 2012., and shortly there after get to work in my field. The scholarships
came at a really good time, because when you are unemployed for over a year like myself,
funds were pretty tight. And I said ÒMan can I really afford to go to college?Ó But
there was the scholarship money to help me. So it really is helping me rebuild my life.
Everybody knows in town, especially in the construction industry, that Columbus State
has the best program. They actively seek Columbus State graduates for employment within a local
industry here. I cant say enough good things about the program, its outstanding. The professors,
the instructors, they truly care about their students. They got a good agenda. Really,
it made sense.
