DIEGO COSTA: FOOTBALL PLAYER OF ATLETICO MADRID
It was a very complicated decision for me to take.
Your country and your nation, and the country that has given you everything, which is Spain.
The truth is that I thought about it, I looked, then I thought about it again.
And what is right, what I saw was best for everyone was to play with Spain because I have done everything here.
For everything that I have in my life, all that I have and everything that this country has given me.
I have a special love.
The truth is I feel appreciated here for what I do every day and feel the love of the people.
I think, and hope that people understand, that at no time have I wanted to turn my back on Brazil.
I do not see it like that, I did not think this way, I do not lie.
Just here I feel valued, I've been here my whole career, I've had everything.
All I am I, I owe to this country in which I am, in Spain.
It was a well thought out decision but at no time I have I thought about turning my back on Brazil
I have relatives there in Brazil, it is the country where I was born.
It's where I hope to live, if God allows me, when I stop playing football.
So the decision has been thought a lot and appreciated by me.
I hope people understand and respect it, because it has been a very difficult decision.
To defend that shirt is not anything, it's an honor, it's a great thing in the life of a person, of a football player.
When the time comes that the coach, Vincent coach calls me
and if I make the squad, and play five, ten, fifteen minutes, whatever, I will give everything, that is how I am.
My life has always been hard work.
In all the teams I've ever played in, I've always given everything.
With the Spanish national team, I'm going to give my all, because it is the nation that has given me everything and I hope to contribute in some way.
One of the things that came to mind the most, was the importance of the group.
I think it's the most valued things in a changing room and the team performance is the group.
I made it very clear to people who have come to talk to me, the coach, the important thing is the group.
If the group agreed and believed that the decision was right for the good of the group it would be a pleasure for me.
