If you ever happen to run across some bird who says, "I don't love Jesus like you do,"
mark it down. Mark it on your calendar. That person doesn't know Jesus.
Oh, he might know about Him like he knows about George Washington, but he doesn't personally
know Jesus Christ.
You know why I know that? Because anyone who personally knows Jesus will love Him. There
are multiple millions all over the globe who would attest to that fact. If you know Him,
you will love Him.
So it follows, how do you get to personally know Him? The answer to that is as plain as
the nose on my face — you can't miss it. My nose is so prominent, it makes Mt. Rushmore
jealous.
Saint Peter tells us that "God is not willing that any should perish but that all should
come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:9
In other words, God doesn't make our coming to Jesus a difficult, hard thing. It's something
a child can do. I know because I came to personally know Jesus when I was 10 years old. And I've
known and loved Him now for over 81 years.
And you know what? The longer I know Him, the more I love Him. And one of these bright,
sunny days I'm going to see Him face to face.
So, my friend, if you want to personally know Jesus you can do so — it's all up to you.
As a matter of fact, Jesus wants to enter your life and have that personal relationship.
He tells us He's knocking at our heart, asking to enter our life. Revelation 3:20
But Jesus is not an intruder, He's not a trespasser; He will never enter your heart until and unless
you open the door and ask Him in.
How do you open the door of your heart to the Savior? Well, how do you open the door
for anyone? You just ask them to come in, that's all. That's all you have to do to personally
know Jesus — ask Him to come into your heart, tell Him you got a lot of dirty black sins,
ask Him to wash them away in His blood. And in gratitude then tell Him you'll serve Him
the best way you can. And really mean it.
That's what I did. I thought I'd really be careful and be just perfect. But that didn't
last very long. The very next morning I got mad at an ornery old milk cow and said some
words my mother told me not to say. So much for the perfect life.
But the evangelist told me the night before, when you sin ask Jesus to forgive you and
He will. 1 John 1:9
Just be sure you're trying to live the best you can for Jesus. I wish I could say I only
used 1 John 1:9 one time, but after 81 years I've almost worn it out.
But Jesus knew all about that, and He assured me that "my grace is sufficient for thee."
2 Corinthians 12:9
And Saint Paul reminds us that where sin abounded, grace did much more abound. Romans 5:20
So I have Jesus. I have salvation. I have grace sufficient for my failures, and heaven
for my home. Love Jesus? You bet, and I hope you'll love Him, too.
