Here I will be discussing a dominant seventh chord, a minor seventh chord, with a thirteen
tension on top. Now, let us go back to the keyboard here. We are going to take one, three,
five, seven from a C major scale. Lower the third to make it minor. Lower the seven to
make it minor seven. Then; eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen. Adding the six above
the octave to make a minor seven thirteen chord. Now, let us look at notating that here.
It is the same as eleven, but essentially you just need to replace eleven with thirteen.
So, C minor thirteen C minor seven with a thirteen in parentheses. Or, C minor, using
the hyphen again, seven thirteen. Now, when we get to doing flats and sharps, like the
flat thirteen, we will have to go back to the same scenario that we used for the flat
nine.
