JOSEPH C. PARRISH: This challenge is actually going to
accomplish something incredible, the ability to
have a zero-emission transport for you and your family for
hundreds of miles.
That hasn't been possible even, ever since
the horse and buggy.
ANNA DE PAULA HANIKA: Google recognizes that green
transportation is an incredibly important part of
building and paving the way for a sustainable future.
And obviously, green aviation is a critical part of green
transportation systems.
JOSEPH C. PARRISH: We have a clear idea that these kinds of
airplanes that we see here can both land
shorter and become quieter.
We can envision having completely electric aircraft
available for purchase in not too long in the future.
And even the ones that are internal-combustion engine
powered, the emphasis on reducing emissions, reducing
noise signatures, those things are going to be the direction
that people are taking for aviation in the future.
ANITA YUEN: We're really excited to be here today.
At Google, we're committed to a clean energy future.
That's why we're really excited to support this year's
Green Flight Challenge.
We really believe that green aviation is the next frontier.
JOSEPH C. PARRISH: In second place is the e-Genius Team,
led by Eric Raymond.
In first place, with a passenger miles per gallon of
403.5 is the Langelaan Aerospace LLC Pipistrel-USA
Team led by Jack Langelaan.
Your prize is $1.35 million.
JACK LANGELAAN: Gold medal at the Olympics, really.
That's what this is for us.
KLAUS OHLMAN: If you're not able to dream of what you can
do, you're not able to live it, of course.
So, our fantasy has no limits at all.
