The Texas Affordable Baccalaureate Program is a joint project of the Texas
Higher Education Coordinating Board, Texas A&M University-Commerce and
South Texas College. Our goal is to realize the vision of providing a
low-cost, high-quality work readied degree to the people of Texas.
If you look at the pattern of higher education in Texas and around the country,
it's very clear that we cannot sustain the current level of cost increases. It's
also clear that we can no longer pass all those costs on the students.
The challenge of developing a low-cost bachelor's degree by leveraging digital
resources, innovative teaching techniques, and online delivery has been embraced by
two Texas institutions with complimentary experience and expertise.
At Texas A&M University-Commerce, we're seasoned online educators
ready to meet the challenge
of a low-cost,

South Texas College
is in the unique position of being able to combine the low-cost advantages
of a two year institution
with the rigor needed to offer four year degrees linking education with
real world experience is the guiding principle behind our associate and
bachelor's programs.
Texas has one of the fastest growing, most diverse populations in the nation,
and needs a low-cost degree option that is flexible enough for today's student

being able to take classes and do the work online really helps.
I want to use the leadership skills I learned in the military.
