Hey Geeks in Training! A few months ago I was in a comic book store and decided that
since I'd only ever read Wonder Woman comics it'd probably be a good idea to expand upon
that. With that in mind I decided to buy the Supergirl Comics. And I thought that since
I haven't actually read them yet, it'd be a great thing that I could explore with you.
So lets dive into the world of Supergirl Last Daughter of Krypton and see where we end up.
Apparently all Krypton mythos begins with meteors crashing into the Earth so good start,
good start. Can I just say that I want her cape. Really want her cape. Guys Superman's
in this comic. Guys, guys, Superman just showed up. Ah, I didn't know that was going to happen.
I mean I should have guessed, Super girl, I mean I figured he'd be there at some point
but in the first comic, that's exciting. This cover does not look too promising for their
friendship though. Apparently they're cousins. What? How does that work? Apparently her name
is Kara Zor-El, I like it. Also her family crest is awesome, even though its supposedly
supposed to be the same as Superman's and it's definitely not. She did not react well
to the news that they're cousins. I guess in her mind three days ago she was taking
care of her baby cousin and now he's clearly not a baby, but, yeah. Watching her X-ray
vision start working is hilarious. I recommend this comic just for the sheer pleasure of
watching Kryptonians fight each other. There's this like orange macguffin and I wanna know
what it is. Orange macguffin guys, what is it? So half way through. Superman doesn't
know exactly how she got to Earth yet, but she might have the means of figuring it out.
She does not trust Superman at all because he claims to be her baby cousin even though
he is clearly much older than that. And she thinks she's killed her first villain although
we learn in the twist at the end of the sixth book that he's actually still alive. Mwa-ha-ha.
I can't wait to read more. Ok, so reviews. I really enjoyed it. I really liked her as
a character. She was stubborn and willful and strong and everything you could possibly
want to have in a hero of your story. Also, she was super strong, like, insanely strong
and I don't want to give too much away but they're hinting at the reasons as to why that
might be and its really interesting possibilities. Some things to look out for are the little
hints that they keep giving about the mythos of Krypton. What are worldkillers? Where did
they come from? Very very interesting things. There have been two villains so far. The world
killers are super warriors created by the Kryptonians and they are very very interesting
to read about. So I would definitely recommend this. I really enjoyed this and I definitely
think I will be picking up the next book. So if you decide to read Supergirl, let me
know what you thought about it, I'd love to hear your opinions. Also, if you have any
other recommendations for comic books that you think I should read, let me know in the
comments. See you next time Geeks in Training. Till then stay super.
