I've been hooked on photography since I was a child. What started it was a trip to London
with school.
I borrowed my dad's camera. It was a really basic camera - it just had "sunny" and "cloudy"
as a setting and you had to manually wind the film on. And there were only 12 shots
on the film.
But I enjoyed taking the pictures. I came back with pictures of Big Ben, us in front
of 10 Downing Street ('cos you were still allowed down Downing Street then).
I look at the pictures now and, technically, they're not brilliant at all. But it was enough
to get me really into it as a child.
And what reinforced it was, a few months later, one of our teachers set up a dark room in
the boys' toilets, of all places, and taught us how to develop film and how to print. And
watching the pictures magically appear on the paper, well that did it for me. I was
totally hooked and it was amazing and I've not looked back since.
