Hello, guys. My name is Henrique Miranda. I'm here with my friend, Paulo Renner.
We are in Kuala Lumpur, capital of Malaysia, and you can follow us, for six months, during this trip around Asia.
We are going to visit Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Bangladesh and finishing in Nepal.
When we arrived in the island, what we saw was cristal clear water
You can see the ground of the sea with the water reaching your neck
And usually there is not a big crowd over there, so it's a good place to relax.
But we didn't go there to relax in our first day in our trip, of course.
We left Kuala Lumpur and took a bus for 6 hours and, after arriving in Mersing, we took a boat for 3 hours more.
We just arrived in Tioman, we just left our backpacks in the hostel.
And now we are going to subscribe in the diving course.
We choose to take the diving course in Pulau Tioman because it's one of the cheapest places in the world.
The entire course takes 4 days, but you can finish it in 3 days, as we did.
In the first days we take some classes and during the afternoon we have some practical classes seting up the equipment.
And after the classes, it's time to wet suit up and to take the theorical classes out of the water to learn how to set up the equipment.
This asian caricature of Bob Marley is our instructor, named Easy, and he has 13 years of dive and lives in Tioman.
This stuff that Henrique is setting up is called Octopus.
With it we can breath, inflate the jacket, check the amount of oxygen that we have and how deep we are.
One of the exercises is when one diver is out of oxygen and he asks oxygen to the other diver.
So both say that everything is ok and go to the surface.
After this boring part, it's time to suit up the equipment, tighten the belts and jump into the water.
This guy, our instructor, said that we were going to Batu Malang, which means Unlucky rock.
The rock has this name because it stays above two other rocks and the sea water never touchs it.
There we have a coral island where we are going to have our first real diving.
After practicing two exercises, we are going to dive in open waters.
So, let's go!!
We had to stay for 45 minutes out of the water because of the deep and time we stayed there.
This part of the course is to learn how to jump into the water.
As you can see, Paulo is showing how you shouldn't do it.
There we could see a lot of different fish and we also found Nemo, the clown-fish that is shy and keeps hiding between the vegetation.
We also saw one turtle and two sharks. Fortunately the sharks were far away from us.
After these 45 minutes diving, it's time to go back to the boat and rest.
We saw two turtles, ops, one turtle and two sharks. Really awesome!!
And now we leave you with the images of our second real dive.
After the diving, the boring part... It's time to wash the equipment.
And to store them.
Now we are leaving Tioman. Our next destination is Kota Kinabalu.
