As if it were a rat...a big rat! Yes, they look like big rats
In my opinion it was a bad experiment they did at the beginning. They should have stopped it at the time!
They are really very big!
They are trouble makers and wear away the rims of the irrigation ditches
The introduction in nature of alien species is unfortunately a more and more common occurrence
and is becoming a real downright plague, in many parts of our planet
however the response to this type of invasion can be very diverse
A lot of people write to the newspapers, complain about the situation,
appeal to the public administrators and only then the problem is dealt with
Coypus are caught in a cage and then killed by means of an air pistol
Let's say... we are talking about a pretty painless way to kill the coypus, after all!
The control campaigns, besides being carefully evaluated
since the beginning of their planning phases, must be modified in their process,
because the coypu populations tend to resist this spatial containment and population control
When the danger level decreases because the problem is... partially, or let's say... mostly solved,
people tend to say... "enough of it" and give up the fight.
An evaluation of the costs related to the management of coypus in Italy, from 1995 to 2000, was made
and it amounted to 14 million Euros, which is definitely a significant amount of money!
We are carrying out a project to sterilize the coypus
This method is currently being tested
and we are experimenting a technique never used before on this animals throughout the world
All the technical solutions we are proposing, mongst which also the anti-coypus and anti-prawns ones,
are characterized by this double torsion net overlaid with plastic
Aren't they well protected? We can't help it!
The Regional Administrative Tribunal (TAR) said that we cannot kill them!
They live and we let them live.... Once in a while we run them over and smash them!
This is Willy, a specimen of coypu which was saved from a sure death
Besides rescuing this animal I have also had the opportunity for a close observation
and I have learned a lot from him
