Hi! I am Patrick O’Toole, the Editor/ Director for Professional Builder magazine and we are
here at Show Village. I am here with Heather and Tina from ThermaTru and Fypon and they
are here to tell us a little bit about the way ThermaTru and Fypon work together. So
Heather! Over the last year we have added Fypon to
the ThermaTru portfolio of brands and it has been a very exciting addition because it really
helped magnify what we already bring to the table; which is a solution-based approach
to satisfy entryways and really the whole home package that we can bring to builders.
It’s really exciting because in the past we have really just focused on the door itself
and the systems that surround the door and their performance. The addition of Fypon has
really helped us – Add the really aesthetics package that you see here with the trim work
as well as the column wraps to support the sea breeze home.
Great! Great! And can you tell us a little bit about the column wraps?
Sure! The column wrap is actually a great solution for the sea breeze home. It’s because
the PVC material is naturally resistant to the salt spray and the high humidity, but
in this application of a new construction, what it allows you to do, is install a 4 x
4 post as a structure and then towards the end of the building cycle, come in and finish
it off and wrap it up. So it really protects the aesthetics of the column when you are
installing it later in the building cycle. Great! So let’s go inside and take a look
at some of the features of these doors. So you have really saw the front of the house,
which showcases how ThermaTru and Fypon products work together, but as we come inside you can
really see the ThermaTru doors that really support the sea breeze home. Right now on
the front of the home, we actually have 2 triple-systems that support the kitchen area
as well as the family room. The triple is a great system because it actually hinges
off the center, so the center door is actually your active panel within that system. These
doors are also accented with low-e glass, full-e glass. It really helps bring in the
light but also helps in energy efficiency at the home. We also have six other doors
featured in the sea breeze home. Two more doubles at the bottom floor and upstairs we
have four more applications. Great! Let’s go see them.
So we are at the 2nd floor of the sea breeze house and we have come up to a back bedroom
here where we have got more ThermaTru doors. Can you tell us something about these doors?
I think that the great thing about these doors, as you can see, versus the downstairs that
we have really been able to size them properly for their application. So downstairs we featured
8-foot doors and upstairs we are featuring a 6’8” doors. Again, size appropriate
for the rooms, the great access to the balcony. The other great products for this fact is
that we have hinged this off the Moin, so it opens for the balcony application, so you
can really see – Easy access to your balcony, really helps, continue to bring in light to
your home. We have also been able to feature some of our Fypon column wraps outside as
well. And those column-wraps and the doors – they
really seem to go well together and one thing that I have known about ThermaTru is that
the materials are really important that you have. You have fiber-glass and then you have
these low-e panes – Tell us a little bit about that?
Well! We really felt like, when we looked at the Show Village concept and the sea breeze
home in particular that we wanted to make sure that we maximize the energy-efficiency
at the home. So we did add the low-e and fiber-glass inherently has a lot of energy-efficiency
properties to it. Its also very low-maintenance solution, because it is a composite material
that helps with resistance in coastal applications – the fact that you are not having rusting
that you might have on a steel door. You are also having resistance to dents and dings,
which stays looking-in really nice for very long time. And I will let Tina talk a little
bit more about how we have the same type of low-maintenance out on the column wraps.
Thank you Heather! With both of the materials offering wonderful solution with both of the
products and they were cool together, because they both add low-maintenance. So once you
get the column wraps painted and you don’t have to revisit them every few years to re-paint
them. They will perform and stay as they are. So beautiful product all the way around!
Great! And so we have got this marriage here – Doors and column wraps. It really shows
the partnership between ThermaTru and Fypon. Congratulations and thank you so much for
being a part of the Show Village. Thanks! We are really excited. We really feel
that we have a package that we can bring to home builders and it really helps nation-wide
pull together, nice, static package as well as all the great performance benefits of low-maintenance,
energy-efficiency – All combined with beautiful aesthetics.
