EDWARD: CSUN is so important to the community and does so much.
There are so many wonderful things happening in all of the colleges.
It's really exciting to be in the President's Office
and just be able to see that.

EDWARD: I have worked at Cal State Northridge...
this is my 30th year,
and I have been in the President's Office now...
this is my 12th year.
My job title is communications assistant,
but since the beginning of the year I've been acting as the
interim executive assistant to President Harrison,
Some of my job duties are helping the president with her calendar,
letting her know all of the things that come up during the day
and trying to slot those into her schedule,
e-mail, multitasking with various folks around campus,
and just trying to keep everything running
as smoothly as possible.
RANDY: The president has a really complicated calendar, and plus,
she's constantly getting requests for meetings.
Trying to balance that and make sure
the president gets to places on time,
that, you know, her priorities are met is really important,
and Ed has done a fantastic job of doing that.
EDWARD: Everything in the President's Office is important,
and it's very hard sometimes to differentiate between, you know,
what needs to be done right now
and what needs to be done five minutes from now,
but regardless, that's part of the job.
RANDY: You know, this wasn't his career track in the office,
so when he took it on, I was really happy
because he's done such a great job
I haven't had to worry about that piece of the office,
and that's really important, the fact that I can depend on Ed.
EDWARD: This is a nice honor to receive this award,
but it really is a reflection on the great work
that everybody does in the President's Office,
including the president
who sets the tone for everything that happens every day.
