In this tutorial, we'll learn how to use the library's catalog
to locate books and multimedia
at City Tech and libraries throughout CUNY.
The library catalog is located on the library website, here
you can access the catalog from anywhere you have an internet connection.
You can begin your search on the front page. As you can see,
the dropdown menu gives you an opportunity to narrow down your search
so if you know the author or the title of the book you're looking for
you can get to it faster by selecting that option from the dropdown menu.
When you're searching for titles, remember to leave out articles such as "the" or "a".
If you don't have a specific title in mind
but want to see what the library has about a certain topic
you can search using the "keyword" option.
Your results will appear on the next page.
If you see a title that looks useful, you can click on its link to find more information.
Once you're looking at the record, you can use "subject headings" to find related material in the catalog.
If you're not getting enough results, you can also open up you search to include other libraries at CUNY.
When you find something you'd like to use, look to see what format it's in.
Some resources you will access online.
