MARK BLOCKER: Okay. In this segment, we're going to cover tightening the lug nuts. What
we want to do is make sure we got the lug nuts good and tight and secure and done in
even torque pattern. Once again, I'm going to apply even pressure on both sides of the
wrench and that keeps it centered and kind of ensures or helps prevent that wrench from
sliding off the nut and rounding it off. And we want to get it to somewhere close--just
good and tight. Not everything you can put into but a good bit of force. And I'm going
crisscross. And now I've done all four, I'm just going to re-check them to make sure that
nothing's changed. Sometimes, as you sit it down, another one you'll find might be loose.
And anytime I work on a vehicle and I finish, I go for a short test drive, make sure every
thing's functioning correctly. Okay. I've got lug nuts on it and I've checked both--all
four of the lug nuts twice. Anytime I work on a vehicle, I go for a test drive and make
sure that the vehicle is operating and working correctly. And anytime I work on a vehicle
where I had the wheels off, after test drive, I'll re-check the torque on those lug nuts
just to make sure that every thing's good and nothing's changed during the test drive.
I recommend that you do the same. Please watch our next segment on checking the brake system
and seating the pads.
