Evan> Henry?
Were you gonna show me this?
Henry>> There's not a good part for you so
as your agent I didn't see the point.
Evan>> I don't care if there's a role for me.
Henry>> No. You care about who wrote it. Did you read it?
Evan>> Yes. Henry>> Did you catch your reflection?
Evan>> You don't know it's about me.
Henry>> No but you do.
And what's more romantic than a love letter penned for the stage.
And what a heartbreaker of an ending.
Although I am surprised you had to go through my things to find it.
I thought for sure Juliet would have run it over before the ink dried
has someone broken all her limbs?
Evan>> She didn't want me to read it? Henry>> Nor did I
But you read it anyway.
Whose fence will you mend first?
Evan>> That depends on your apology.
Henry>> How did I end up on this side of the table?
Evan>> You try so hard to force me away from Juliet as if we have some history.
It isn't fair there's no past between us Henry.
Heny>> That's because you can't distinguish the past from the present.
Let this go. I wanna be with you.
Prove it.
Evan>> You wrote a play about me Juliet.
Juliet>> Wow did the love affair between two women give it away?
Evan>> So what? It would kill you to
write something obvious and you've never cared about anyone's sexuality.
Juliet>> Please don't hold back. Let's start at page one and move forward through my failings.
Evan>> Let me respond Juliet. Or would you like to write that for me as well?
Juliet>> Well I should let the actor have the stage. It's all yours. I'll cue the spot on the way out.
You haven't denied it!
Evan>> Juliet, you can't just run away from talking about this.
Juliet>> Sucks to be on the receiving end doesn't it?
Evan>> I have stuck in this relationship far longer than you give me credit.
Juliet>> You act as if I'd crumble if you weren't around. But I'm the one trying to put
the distance and you're the one that keeps closing the gap.
Evan>> Juliet. I'm with Henry.
Juliet>> Right. Whenever this starts to get messy you make sure
to pound that fact home.
But saying you're with someone does not absolve you from your actions.
You know what the play is about?
It's about me trying desperately to
find a way to feel less miserable knowing I'll never be with you.
So instead of standing there accusing me of some betrayal confidence
be happy I'm trying to find a way to end this.
Evan>> I never asked for that. There's no reason we can't be in each other's lives.
Juliet>> Yes there is. You can't have both of us Evan.
And you've made your choice clear. Evan>> Yeah choice has very little to do with it.
You know I can't give you what you want. Juliet>> You give me a lot of what I want already.
But really this hesitation has never been about me.
It's about you.
You can't stand the thought of being anything other than a gay man and the way you feel
about me threatens that.
Evan>> That's ridiculous. Juliet>> Then be honest. Tell me how you feel?
Juliet>> Should I refer to the text? Evan>>Stop it!
I know how I feel about you I've never felt threatened by any of it.
Juliet>> Prove it.
No. Because you'll only want more. You want me to be that person that helps fill that
part of you that needs filling and I've always wanted that too but now we
need to face the possibilities of that situation.
Juliet>> That speech usually ends with you walking away.
Evan>> Our lives are not so easily written.
As much as you'd like it to be otherwise. Juliet>> What do you want our lives to be Evan?
Evan>> I don't know. Just not apart.
But it's clear I don't deserve to answer that question.
Juliet>> It's your sole responsibility in life to be happy.
Evan>> Yeah. Well maybe I was wrong about that.
Michelle>> Give the lady a drink. On me.
Rebecca>> No please. I'm fine thank you.
Michelle>> At some point we'll have to exchange words, might as well be over and drink.
A Malbec please.
Shouldn't you be getting ready for the show tonight?
That's the stage manager's job right?
Michelle>> Why? You trying to take my job? Laura will be so pleased.
Rebecca>> Laura has nothing to do with it.
Michelle>> Doesn't she though?
You know I actually thought this little arrangement between us was working
fine.
I saw her at the theatre everyday during the run.
And you saw her whenever else. But, apparently that wasn't enough for you.
Rebecca>> You're right but what happens between you two has nothing to do with me.
Michelle>> Right. But you do help to set the stage don't you?
Rebecca>> Laura sets everything herself. You and I know that best.
Michelle>> And the sharing continues.
Maybe we should have ordered one drink and two straws.
What reason did you give yourself
to be involved with a woman who is already involved with somebody else?
More than I thought possible really.
But in the end
I guess I was willing to do anything to be with her.
And now?
And now we're both sitting at a bar having different thoughts about the same thing.
Evan!
I've been calling. I need you in Midtown in 20 minutes.
Evan>> That audition. Right.
We'll talk later. Juliet>> I have no doubt.
Henry>> Really Juliet
isn't the role of *** hag beneath your intellect or have I misjudged you?
Juliet>> From the effort behind that insult I think you see the situation quite well Henry
Henry>> You don't want this want this competition Juliet.
At the end of the day he is who he is.
Curiosity doesn't change anything. It will only leave a straight girl broken.
Please tell Andrea, it's a pass.
Juliet>> Are you sure? Maybe you should think it over you seem undecided.
Goodnight. Juliet.
People aren't...
easy to love.
And not because of their bothersome behavior or
the baggage that they carry.
That we're desperate to ignore.
But
because deep down
they think that
they're not good enough for you to love them.
And that's when trust comes into play.
You have to hope,
that they trust you know what you're doing.
Maybe deciding to love them wasn't
really up to you.
But
Having the courage
to do something about it,
that isn't easy.
No one can dispute the importance of trust.
You just have to make sure you're looking at the right person
when you ask for it.
One of everything please.
I think Laura's read your new play.
Actually I know she read it. And I think she just auditioned while trying to make up with me.
What? Wait, how did it sound?
Rebecca>> Really good actually.
For once I thought she was opening up to me.
I was getting past the wall. I guess there was just another one there waiting for me.
Juliet>> Yeah, sometimes we have to realize that walls aren't there to protect,
they'e there to keep us out.
Rebecca>> Does that realization get me a step closer to walking away?
Juliet>> God I hope so.
You know,
its possible Laura just
ran out of her own words and in the moment needed a little help to win you back.
Rebecca>> That doesn't really help with the whole walking away thing.
Juliet>> What can I say, I like you're company.
Rebecca>> Well, I'm not going to be miserable.
today may have been a bump in the road but I'm going to get your play
to the stage god dammit.
Juliet>> Long live your enthusiasm cuz it only gets worse from here.
Rebecca>> Really? Juliet>> Yeah.
But once the curtain goes up
you'll forget all about the pain it took to get there.
Jabob, why aren't you backstage?
Jacob>> Richard. He suggested we prepare alone tonight.
Andrea>> Did he forget the house opens before curtain?
Sit. You have 5 minutes.
Jacob>> Where's Michelle?
Andrea>> Not here obviously.
How's Laura?
Jacob>> I'm not just out here for Richard.
You can expect another strong emotional performance tonight.
Andrea>> The rewards of personal pain.
This is good. Count me in.
***.
Rebecca>> To what comes next.
Juliet>> No looking back now.
