The CAT is the libraries' catalog
We use it to find things in the libraries' collections, such as books,
journals, DVDs, CDs, e-books,
and materials in other formats. There are a few different ways to access the
CAT. You can use the main search box in the "Start Here" section of the
libraries homepage to do a simple keyword search, but I'm going to click on the
"Search the CAT" link to show you a few more options behind the scenes.
This is the Quick Search interface for the CAT.
Notice that you can choose to search in different
fields, such as by author or title.
We'll start with a keyword search. For keywords, think of important or
descriptive words related to your topic. As an example, I'm going to
look for materials related to leadership
and public administration.
In the next video, I'll give you some tips for
sifting through these search results.
