sandra day o'connor
supreme court justice said that you know what
may beat the supreme court never should've even taken up
bush should be gored two thousand which eventually led the george w_ bush
becoming president of the u_s_ can you
imagine this this is
uh... first let me tell you exactly what she said she said
maybe the question of set
we're not going to take it
goodbye
it turned out the election authorities in florida had it done a real good job
and any kind and kind of messed it up and probably the supreme court added it
to the problem at the and of the day think about that for a second ladies and
gentlemen
saturday o'connor
who was on the court when bush league or was decided
basically admits
the biggest this is a decision rendered while she was on the court
provided the necessary she provided a vote towards got it wrong
and so on up presidential election in l perhaps it would have been a different
situation if george w_ bush
had won the popular vote
and had one uh... had actually clearly one in florida and there was a sense
that the supreme court was really just kind of
ending a recount that was not going to change anything
that was not the case
and we have an admission from the former supreme court justice
that may be the supreme court never should've even gotten
involved
unbelievable bureau understand those comments
you understand how different history may have been
had the supreme court not ever taken that out
but were the search box at the time i doubt it well that's the question right
north on why did she now come to this decision that she always think this
but i would have been a disaster if she had said it
as she learned something new and she had an epiphany maybe she changed her mind
maybe she's worried about her legacy in the history books others is gonna point
out that
the recount there was going on that windows supreme court stop det
had continued it's very likely that gore would have lost
becoz it was only recounting parts of the state's and also because a lot of
uh... what's that had been thrown out wouldn't have been able to be recounted
me however studies have shown that if everyone had had their intense counted
gore probably would've won but i just want to point out that the recount
probably wasn't an end up in gore's favor anyway it's it's not total but so
you're saying that if we looked at those aaron ballots were people the lines were
drawn all over that that butterfly ballot if the intent of those had
probably been counted gore would've won
yeah because in a lot of those cases like the butterfly ballot people just
voted for someone else oh there's no way to recounted
to count the original intent
username idea
the joint say something less
now uh...
are really if you will do it
i wouldn't say the world ur but uh... it's certainly a strange time to come
out and say that status
