I've been playing these. I've got some
D'Addario
Half-Rounds
yesterday
And em...
I like them.
How Deep Is Your Love by The Beegees.
These strings sit somewhere between...
A warm sound and a bright sound.
So they're kind of...
the best of both worlds really.
They give you that sort of...
Flatwound sound
with the eh... more of the brightness of a
roundwound.
It's a good compromise but, the thing about it is- Because they're half-rounds...
because it's not round...
because the wraps aren't round...
there's increased
surface area
which means increase surface tension
which means you're going to need to adjust...
the truss-rod on your neck...
if you've been playing round wounds.
that's unavoidable. I had to do it. You'll have to do it.
and he may even have to adjust your action a bit. There's a little diagram on...
the back there
and you can see half-rounds is just there...
and this is
That says "Warm/Bright".
This is "Mellow", those are the chromes.
And ProSteels are up here, at "Super-Bright". ProSteels are really bright and
that's actually what i'll be putting....
on next, is the ProSteels. I've done a couple of sound samples...
So you can get an idea of what it will sound like with the *Half-Rounds on.
I think it sounds good.
Going up the D string, and the G string is quite bright, but also if you roll off...
the tone it gives that sort of more...
fretless sound.
The lower strings give more of a classic sort of
thud
if you listen to a band like MGMT...
their
bassist has a really sort of...
I wouldn't say it was dead, but it's sort of like...
it's not bright, at all.
and there's nothing wrong with that...I think it's a good sound.
If you...
if you know how to work your tone controls and everything on your amp, you could...
replicate that pretty well with these strings.
So, good points about them.
They...
They're not too warm...
or mellow. Not too bright, or toppy.
DURR!
It's quite a good compromise between flat wound and round wound. I showed you on the ...
chart there, it sits half-way between ProSteels and...
chromes pretty much.
I would say it's kind of very versatile.
If you're
the kind of person that plays a lot down on the..
E and A strings, and you like a bright sound...
i wouldn't recommend them...
for that, but if you...
like if you played right up to the...
twenty first, twenty second fret...
on the G string...
and... you want
y'know, a bright sound...
but something that also delivers the sort of flat wound sound...
definitely get them.
And... they are a warm/bright semi-flatwound string...
so there we are.
And they were...
twenty two pounds £22.
(random pointless caption)
They should also last you quite a while.
Cheers for watching!
