The all new Mountain Buggy Cosmopolitan that delivers world class engineering that Mountain
Buggy is renown for, in a hot new 4 wheel urbane style chassis.
So lets review and show you how to.
The Cosmopolitan is the sleek, new addition to the Mountain Buggy range and is designed
to be ultra adaptable and easy to “Pop” the front wheels up for kerp hopping and optimised
city performance. Designed as a single stroller only, its suitable
for cross-country or city living. the Cosmopolitan boasts Mountain Buggies high quality finishes
and smooth ride with a sleek aluminium frame profile.
Some exciting features in the Cosmopolitan is its unique convertible seat that offers
3 modes to accommodate from newborn to a max weight range of 20kgs. The new Aerotech
tires, a forward & rear facing seat (which is a first for Mountain Buggy) the seat also
has a smooth recline and the fabrics are a stylish Denim. The cosmopolitan also boasts
a clean 2 step drop fold which locks into a compact bundle with the ability for a freestanding
fold and The total stroller weights in at 11.9kgs as you see it here.
So lets break it down and take a closer look
The Handle is not adjustable and is fixed into place as it does fold in as part of the
folding process we will show you later. Even though the handle is fixed its a good height
so we did not find ourselves kicking the bottom of the stroller when walking, so your still
fine for those urbane walks and a bit off off road walking.
Lets take a look at the fold. You fold the cosmopolitan with the seat in
the upright forward facing position. You then push both of these grey buttons on
each side in and they stay clicked in so you can do this one handed. You then push in
the button found under the handle bar here and push the leaver down and the stroller
will fold in on itself so you just drop it and it has an automatic lock will lock on
the side here so its not going to unlock in the process.
If your wheels are locked like we have done it will standing in the freestanding fold.
They have also thought of not wanting you to damage your chassis so they have actually
but a little black *** at the base here so your
not going to suff your frame when its in that standing fold.
Again if the front wheels are locked you can also easily wheel the stroller behind you
however that handle itself does not lock all the way down so it does have a bit of movement
there.
To unfold you just need to flick off your Automatic lock whilst pull up and place your
foot on the back here whilst pulling the handle up until you hear it click firmly into place.
Its a really nice smooth transition into that open position.
The sun canopy opens with a a few clicks and you have 2 panels with an additional extendable
section here which is great extra airflow, its a mesh section. if you click that all
the way forward. Its a convenient bonus peek-a-boo window however they also have given
you a easy peel peek-a-poo flap here at the back that you can lift to look through that
has a clear cover. There’s no Velcro clips so its very quiet to operate and take a look
at your baby.
To recline the seat you just need to lift up on the black leaver found at the top behind
the sun canopy. The leaver is easy to lift and can be very successfully operated with
one hand. The seat has 3 reline levels in either the forward or reward facing positions
and is really smooth action to complete even when the seat has a heavier passenger so your
not going to jolt baby.
The seat can face forward or reward as I just mentioned and to adjust you just need to push
down on these two levers whilst lifting the seat up, its nice and light.
Then you swing the seat around.and it basically if your got it lined up correctly just falls
back into place with a nice confident click.
The seat comes with a bumper bar or Mountain Buggy call it a grab bar, which is a “rotating
grab bar” or “Gate” style opening, that can be operated either side when you push
the black button from underneath. The gate style opening means you can get it out of
the way to access your baby more easily. The grab bar is nicely padded and covered
in the same denim fabrics as the exterior of the stroller so could be a bit more child
friendly than some of your foam covered bumpers.
Your break is an easy foot break and is this large curved red leaver here on the right
and you just flick it down to engage & you can step on the back, for flick it up with
your toe . It
We found The Drivability of the cosmopolitan is really very consistent and not alot of
effort required to get it moving. Even though the Cosmopolitan is an urbane stroller it
still has the Mountain Buggy DNA and I have to say it feels really sturdy and well balanced
over uneven surfaces. The all round suspension means it could handle grass and paved surfaces
very well and we even took it off road a few times to test it out which it did handle our
off road situations suitably. The tyres are very unique in their construction
so we found them to have a cushioning effect along with the all round suspension which
really helped make the uneven surfaces a smoother ride.
Mountain Buggy also have a huge range of useful accessories including car seat adaptors so
you can turn your Cosmopolitan into a full baby travel system, and here is just a few
other available accessories.
The seat on the cosmopolitan is really unique for a few reasons, because its convertible.
If you plan to use this stroller from newborn then you don’t have to worry about swapping
seat fabrics or buying additional bassinets to click into the frame as the seat converts
very quickly and simply into a lie-flat mode for newborn up to 9kgs.
Its so simple to convert into the flat bed all you need to do is unclip the two clips
found at the base of the seat so one at the base and one at the top here and you just
push the seat flat, and they you have to recline it down.
Its also fantastic because you can secure your newborn into the stroller because the
harness is complete accessible in the lie-flat mode, which I think is a really important
feature. Now one thing to note is the Lie-flat bed is not really a bassinet or carry cot
because it cannot be used independently off the stroller frame, however because the seat
is reversible you can have the seat in the lie-flat mode facing either direction.
The seat fabrics are removable to wash and when you select your colours you always get
the same outer fabrics in the Denim however you just select the interior fabrics, the
interior colour we have here today is the stone. the seat is well padded with a firm
base board in the seat bottom, for really good support. The seat itself is quite roomy
The seat dimensions 32cm wide
44cm to the back of the seat height which is on the shorter side for a stroller seat
back 56cm height to canopy x 21cm deep to the seat
The Footrest is adjustable and has a rubberized base so easy to wipe off those grubby feet.
To adjust the foot rest you just lift it up and it will auto mantically click up to the
next level and to put it back you need to press both sides of the buttons on either
side here together and then push the foot rest down.
The harness is a 5 point padded harness and it has the super duper Mountain buggy clip
which means you need to push these two red buttons in at the same time as your squeezing
each side of the clip. Its a good size clip and the crotch strap here as well its nice
padding to it and I like that it comes up a bit higher when your putting your child
into the seat so your getting away from chubby legs.
To adjust the harness you have 3 levels and its like a button style attachment. Just
push your button through the button hole basically from the back and then you just slot it back
through up to the next level. really simple to do and not fussy at all.
Now The storage on the Cosmopolitan is Brilliant, huge whats not to love when you have this
nice big open, easy to access tray, on the bottom here it actually has two support bars
underneath so its rated to carry 10kgs. Your going to be able to really stack up some serious
shopping in here without having to worry about the bag sagging. And your *** and diaper
bags are going to be super easy to access.
Lets take a look at these Tyres. The Cosmopolitan comes with all round suspension
with Aerotech Tyres, a puncture-proof blend of EVA and rubber.
The front wheels are 20cm in diameter swivel wheels that can be locked into place by pushing
the the grey button down and they will lock into place and just pushing them back down
to release so really simple to do.
And On the rear are 30cm diameter quick release tyres that you remove by pushing in the small
black button found underneath and just pulling off handy to make the stroller more compact
fold
Pros: - The all round suspension and puncture proof
aerotech tyres make for a stroller that can handle some urbane off road moments.
-the Larger easy to access basket, its huge and has great clearance.
-The seat recline is so effortless to do one handed.
-Two way facing seat that is very easy to covert
- the easy one piece fold with automatic lock and freestanding fold
- and the convertible seat is a great design I really like the fact you don’t need to
store additional bassinets or fabrics once baby has grown into the upright seat and you
can use the harness in the lie-flat mode.
And the Cons: -The seat back height was a bit to the shorter side however this was almost
forgotten because the canopy clearance is good so my taller 3yr old was able to fit.
- The sun canopy mechanism is a bit on the clickly noisy side.
-and the handle is not adjustable.
