(sound of people talking in the background)
(Man) I don't see one positive thing out of it,
you know. All this is gonna do is cause
me to go somewhere I don't want to go, you know,
and that's what it's going to do.
(music: fast drums)
(Ed) My name is Ed Kaczynski. We're at Video World
in Woodbury, Connecticut. Here in the video rental business
we're looking to see what we can do tonight to make people
happy in their entertainment needs.
Wow. That was a commercial.
(on phone) Good morning, Video World.
(music: guitar)
(Ed) We decided to announce to the people
this year that we were going to close after 23 years in business.
(Customer 1) I was shocked.
(Customer 2) Yeah, I'm not surprised.
(Customer 3) I'm sad. (laughs) (Daughter) Me too.
(Customer 3) I don't look sad. (Daughter) You don't look sad! (Customer 3) I don't look sad.
(music: drums)
(Ed) We first started to rent out videos in the lobby of the cinema.
(Employee) I remember one gentlemen. Tried to ask him for a two dollar
late charge. He threw two dollars at me and
said, "do you know who I am?"
(Employee 2) Oh, the naughty book. (laughs)
I felt dirty whenever I wanted to give it to somebody.
I had to wash my hands afterwards.
(music: rock)
(Customer) I just want to make sure people know how important
this kind of a place is... to the rest of the community.
(Customer 3) I can walk in and I can pick it up.
(Employee) Picking up a box and reading the back of it.
(Cusotmer 4) When you come to know films through that process,
you have a deeper relationship with them.
(music: hard rock)
