Hello, my name is Christian. I'm 33 years old
And I live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
I advocate The Zeitgeist Movement
because the ideas that are presented
do not refer to a minority or a specific "cause"
such as "Save the Whales" or "Give books to African children"
They are all noble causes and I support most of them
but they don't offer any solutions
they just deal with the symptoms of a much larger issue
The Movement is about making people aware
about the real causes of the problems
that affects every single person on the planet
and which are not to blame on this or
that form of government
or capitalism
the corporations or anything like that
Our entire socio-economical system has to be reinvented
because the one we have now has most certainly failed
it doesn't matter how it is presented
an economical or political model
being democracy, monarchy or whatever
they are all flawed
Every human being needs water, food and shelter
our current state of technogical development
allow us to provide this and much more
to all the planet's population
The Movement supports a sustainable model
based on a Resource Based Economy (RBE)
where we can take from nature
everything we need
in an optimal fashion
with minimum energy
and minimum impact
In an egalitarian and fair society
where there is no money and you don't have to work for a living
greed and competition would be irrelevant
they would make no sense at all
Many consider this to be utopic
specially the part about the end of currency
but we have to keep in mind that the vast majority
of ideas and revolutions that shaped the world as we see today
were not accepted and even ridiculed at first
And what do you mean by "no work"?
Well, we can easily observe today the every growing
replacement of man by machines
in the productive forces
and this will only grow
which generates, of course, unemployment
But this doesn't have to be so
Automation should be here to free us from hard labour
in benefit of the entire planetary population
and not how it is today
to increse the profit margins
of those who hold control over the productive forces
the big players and big corporations
It is not with politics
and with political leaders and presidentes that we're
going to solve the real problems we have now
Practical problems, such as: poverty, wars
disease and hunger
These things are dealt with technology
and this technology should also be used
and applied in the design of a new society.
Thank you!
