[Music} >>I found evidence that today trees that only
grow in California having grown in the mountains of Nevada in the recent past and they migrated
away, which in this case means they went extinct from the mountain range in response to climate
changes. Just a warming of temperature will cause many trees in California to struggle
with water availability, if that happens we can see some reproductive success going down
and eventually, if its tied to fire, which we are already seeing through the Western
United States those trees can get eliminated from some portions of their range. There’s
evidence that over the last thousand years that has happened. There have been extended
droughts of 60 or 80 years have led to the disappearance of trees from some parts of
the Sierra Nevada for example. [Music]
