My role is to actually support and help the ECs,
the post-placement support and ongoing support people,
to assist our job seekers into employment.
We make sure that the clients are actually ready to move into employment,
and if they're not, having a look at their barriers
and actually assisting them with mental health
or drug and alcohol or counselling
or whatever it is that they require to sustain them
and move them forward into an employment role.
Some job seekers don't actually realise
some of the skills that they actually have,
so it's part of our role to actually get them to find out,
and work them, what skill sets that they do have
and then what we do is we job-match
with an employer that has a similar skill set.
And you actually find that we get very good, sustainable outcomes from that.
We also have support workers that actually can help our clients
actually get through sometimes those weeks or months of uncertainty
of whether they're doing a job correctly, how it's all working,
what they're supposed to do, how it's supposed to work.
When they have somebody supporting them on the way through,
it actually works quite well.
While they're actually working, we put them through a course
that might get them through to the next level of where they want to be.
Their employment pathway plan being built towards them
and very much tailored towards the service that they require.
It's about how do we get the job seeker to be in the best place
that the job seeker wants to be and how do we assist them?
And it becomes a win-win situation for everybody.
The job seeker's actually focused
because they're actually getting the area that they want to be in.
We're actually helping the job seeker move forward
into the areas that they want to be in,
which in turn allows us to become outcome-focused.
Each of us has a major role to make sure that we're all working together
for the betterment for the business and also for the job seeker,
so that the employer is completely supported
with any issues that they require on the way through.
Most of the reason why I am actually in this industry is about social inclusion.
It's about the fact that a job seeker will come into the programme
and be quite distressed,
had quite a lot of issues and problems that they've not been able to deal with.
They actually come through our process,
we work through doing the initial interviews, the assessments,
working them through the programme,
actually doing the employment pathway plans,
actually showing them that there's a light at the end of the tunnel
and actually being there to support them
when they're actually not doing as well as they'd hoped
or being there for the good and the bad.
And seeing them come through the other side when they're actually employed,
and the difference between where they were to where they are,
and being able to see that, that's one of the major reasons why we're all here. �
