What's up everybody, today is your daily Gaming Cypher recap for Friday, March 8th.
In an interview with Time, Nintendo's legendary Shigeru Miyamoto promises that the Wii U operating
system will be much improved by this summer. In his developer blog update, Charles Boyd,
Lead Writer on Star Wars™: The Old Republic™, sheds a bit of light on how the BioWare Austin
team initially conceived of the planet in the Digital Expansion: Rise of the Hutt Cartel.
It was announced that there will be no game refunds for the server issue-laden SimCity
if purchased thru Origin. The latest SimCity reviews are in. The results
seem to be mixed. Once the server issues will be resolved we can probably expect a more
favorable result. Donkey Kong Country Returns is not being handled
by its original developer, Retro Studios. Instead, Monster Games will be handling the
3DS development. This leaves you wondering what type of an exciting project Retro Studios
is working on. Perhaps Zelda or Metroid Prime? Square-Enix has released a new gameplay trailer
for Dragon Quest X. This trailer showcases colossal orchestra music, very colorful graphics
and lots of gameplay. The game will be released March 30 in Japan. There is no word as to
whether to game will be released in the States. Warner Brothers has renamed its Batman: Arkham
Asylum Facebook page this week to simply Batman: Arkham City. Could this be in preparation
for the 3rd game in the series? Nintendo's stock jumped heftily today to over
7% in share price, to 10,330 Yen or roughly $110, This was not due to some new and exciting
game announcement, but rather due to the weakening yen, which produces positive results for exporting
companies. To help celebrate Mass Effect 3's one year
multiplayer anniversary, the Bioware multiplayer team has provided two new updates. First is
a cool banner that can be earned and second is an all-new infographic with updates on
the multiplayer war front. Crysis 3 developer, Crytek, has released Patch
1.3 for the PC version of the game. The patch is still not available for consoles, but the
content will remain the same. Sony has released a new Killzone: Mercenary
video, featuring Art Director, Tom Jones, discussing the Guerrilla Games Cambridge Vita shooter.
The game will come out sometime in September. The Tokyo Game Show is restructuring to enhance
visitor experience. The show takes place September 19 thru the 22nd.
In light of all the issues it has faced since its launch, SimCity's marketing campaign has
been suspended temporarily by EA. Battlefield 4 Might Be Shown at GDC, IGN says
as they received an invite with box-art colors that are very similar to those of Battlefield
3. The GDC will take place March 25th through 29th in San Francisco and will begin immediately
after this year’s PAX East. That has been your Gaming Cypher daily recap.
