Our primary task is to set an example of remembrance, both for those with whom we've lived but particularly for those who will follow us.
For the sacrifices that were made stretching back over so many years and are still being made today
make an indelible mark upon the lives and on the character of our people and our nation.
And so this day as we gather here, we remember men and women, who by making the supreme sacrifice are carrying in their bodies and minds the pain of conflict,
have made that commitment to the well being of others most of whom they would never know, generations still unborn.
"This is my commandment. Love one another as I have loved you. There is no greater love than this; that someone should lay down his life for his friends."
"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them."
"When you go home, tell them of us and say, for your tomorrow, we gave our today."
