Make a difference day is a national day of service.
It was started twenty years ago by USA today.
It's one of the biggest volunteer events of the entire year. And there are millions of people
all over the United States who goout to make a difference in their communities.
in all sorts of ways and all sorts of projects.
It can be from environmental projects or
projects from city hall.
It's a great thing, it's like a holiday for volunteers.
Why is make a difference day important?
Well, it's a huge symbol of what a community can do for the lives of many.
It doesn't take many to go out there and say
"Yo, lets go on out there and help the people"
Because it's not only fun, but it's a warm
feeling
after the fact
because you know you've have not only helped yourself
but helped others that really need it.
It's also important because
you have so many people
that have the same mission, the same goal, and
that's to help people and thrive and enjoy life to the best of their ability.
Make a difference day is important because
we always have to look back and help our community members that need help.
That's how a community actually grows, by helping one another.
I think that any community service work that I do
will transform me as a person because I
connect with different people and I hear stories
of how they helped the community, and it makes me want to go out even more.
And hearing the stories of the people that live in the community
and see what we do and how it effects their lives, affects my life.
