You have been waiting for this for a long time... collecting bits of information... watching videos about the new features... guessing when the 8.0 update will come.
Today, every World of Tanks player can try it for themselves, because the 8.0 update is now running on our game servers.
As soon as you log in, you'll notice a lot of changes. First and foremost is the new graphics rendering system. We've changed the lighting, shadows and reflections, and
added a lot of other effects.
What's more important, the developers have added this feature without increasing the system requirements. The new graphics system doesn't require a powerful
computer. If you only have an older computer, you can also use lower graphics settings to make the game run smoothly.
We have also improved the visual environment of some maps. There are 10 remade maps in the 8.0 update: Himmelsdorf, Mines, Karelia, Lakeville, Sand River, Cliff,
Fjords, Mountain Pass, Arctic Region, and Westfield. As you can see, the difference between the old maps and new maps is enormous. It's almost like playing two different games.
These changes don't just affect the way the environment looks, but also how it plays. The city in Lakeville is no longer divided into upper and lower parts, now it's united.
The embankment and the territory near the church are more spacious now. And this is just one example. You will see a lot of changes on these 10 maps.
However, the gameplay on any map is changing due to another important feature - the new realistic physics system. This feature opens routes that were not available in
earlier versions, removes issues with sticking vehicles, and even makes collisions look different. You can get more detailed information from our video titled "The new
physics system in the 8.0 update".
Another important change can be found in the interface. The tech tree has changed completely, making the purchase and upgrading of tanks much easier. There is also a
new radial menu with quick commands for the battlefield.
Detailed post-battle statistics are now available. You can check the efficiency of other players and take a closer look at your own success in penetration and spotting
enemy vehicles. The advanced indicator settings allow you to adjust the markers that are located above every tank.
All in all, the interface is now more interesting and easier to use.
Another new feature is the ability to choose the game mode you prefer. Of course, you can't turn off the standard battle and this feature doesn't work when you play as
part of a platoon or tank company.
Four new tank destroyers have been added to the soviet tree. This includes the SU-100M1, the SU-101, the SU-122-54, and the Object 263. These new vehicles have a
new style of gameplay for TDs, because they are faster than their predecessors. You can get more detailed information from our video -- "The new soviet TDs in the 8.0 update"
We should also mention the new vehicle customization system. You can choose a camouflage pattern for each map type, which gives you a 5% bonus to your camouflage
factor. You can buy this new camo using credits or gold, and either way you will get the same bonus. Now you will be ready to roll out on any map.
In addition, you can add a slogan or logo to your tank. For example, you can put an "Eagle" on the side of your turret or "For Stalingrad!" on your armor. It looks great and
we expect to see a lot of you customize your vehicles this way.
Don't be surprised by the new medals in the achievements section. Now you can get not only Top Gun and Burda's medals, but also Pascucci's medal and Nichols's medal.
Some achievements are easier to unlock, while others will give you great pride in their achievement. For example, Tarczay's medal, which is received for winning hard battles.
We have added our first truly British tank, the premium tier 5 medium tank, the Matilda Black Prince. This British tank is an alternative for the other premium tier 5 British
tanks such as the Churchill and the Matilda, which fall under the Soviet tree as lend-lease vehicles.
The Matilda Black Prince is a slow tank with average armor. The gun is similar to the Churchill's, but it is a little more accurate. This means that its primary targets are
lower-Tier tanks. You might be the top-Tier vehicle in the battle due to the narrow spread of battle tiers. The income of this vehicle is similar to the other premium tier 5 tanks.
If you take a closer look at all of the features included in the 8.0 update, you will see that it is the most comprehensive update in the history of World of Tanks. What's
more, this is just the first step to transforming and improving World of Tanks. We'll talk about upcoming developments in later videos. Now let's roll out, on the new maps
with the new physics system and a new game experience!
