Pierre: Come on, let's all
pray together! Merciful God, today
I pray in the beautiful name of
Jesus, that the Spirit of God and the
word of God will contend mightily
among us. I pray, Father, that You
would strengthen me. I pray, Father,
that the words that come out of my
mouth will be weighted and it will be
driven by the anointing breath of God.
I pray that it will penetrate hearts.
I will pray that it will enlighten
minds. Jesus, where Your word is spoken
give us ears to hear and hearts to
receive. And I pray, give us spirits
of obedience. Give us revelation of
Your grace. Thank You that You hear
this prayer. And thank You that You
answer. In Jesus' name, Amen!
So today I am going to continue with
the series on Treasure. Last week
we discovered that the very first
message that Jesus ever spoke in the
Book of Matthew, Chapter 6, it is
called the Sermon on the Mount, or
Sermon on the Mountain. It was the
very first time that Jesus opened
His mouth and He is going to declare
to them the words of God. Jesus says
these words: Do not store up for
yourselves treasures on earth where
the moth and the rust will destroy.
But store up for yourselves treasures
in heaven where the moth and the rust
cannot destroy. In that moment,
because we are earthly minded people,
it really sounds like a cop out when
He says, put your treasures in
heaven where you cannot see. That is
the better deal. What Jesus was
saying, He says do not take your
best energy and invest it in seeking
temporary things. In other words,
from God's perspective the life we
live is so small compared to the
reality of eternity, He says there is
a lot more things that you can look for
that are of far greater value to you.
And then Jesus says these things in
Matthew 6:33. And I'm gonna invite
you to read this out loud with me.
Jesus himself said it. Now this is
in red in the Bible. If it is in red,
you don't mess with it! Okay?!
Can you turn to your neighbor and
say, it's in red! You just listen.
You just obey. Anybody that come back
from the dead and writes in red,
you listen! Okay, this is what Jesus
says: But seek first the kingdom of
God and His righteousness, and all
these things shall be added unto you.
He didn't say seek only the kingdom
of God. He said seek first the
kingdom of God. Now last week we said
this. Now we all decided we believe
that. And we all get in our cars and
I go like, where are you going?!
I'm gonna go seek the kingdom and
righteousness! Cool! Where you going?!
I'm gonna go seek the kingdom and
righteousness. My question is, what
are we going to be looking for?
Where are you going to drive to?
What are you going to do?
Luckily, God answers that riddle in
Romans 14:17 with this scripture.
Come on everybody! For the kingdom
of God is not eating and drinking,
but righteousness and peace and joy
in the Holy Spirit. Now last week we
spoke about right standing and favor.
I can tell you this, last week I said to
my wife, it felt like I was in the
grandstands listening to my own voice
as God was speaking truth through my
heart. What was really amazing,
I felt liberated last week after hearing
that message five times. I walked
away from it knowing that I am deeply
loved by God and favored by God
because of what Jesus did. Not because
of what I do everyday. It is an awesome
release of my heart that I don't have
to be like the Duracell bunny,
go,go,go, do good, do good, do good!
Did I do good? Do You love me?
No, no, no, no. The Bible says even
when I was a sinner God loved me more
than I can ever imagine. It redeemed
how I prayed this week. It redeemed
how I loved God this week. Because I
walked in a revelation that I am
loved by God and I am favored by God
because He sees me through the blood
of Jesus. Oh, that is good!
I can go home on that again!
But today we find that the second
thing that scripture says, it is not
only right standing with God but the
thing of God's kingdom is peace.
Now, wow! Now peace is something that
God values high. Because why would
God say the things that my kingdom
consists of is right standing with God,
the second thing is peace, and the
third thing is joy in the Holy Spirit.
Now I am going to tell you something.
A friend of mine sent me a clip from
a professor, Brené Brown.
You can write that name down and
go look it up on YouTube.
Brené Brown. She is the research
professor at the University of Houston,
Texas. She says this, we are in this
generation that we are living in the
United States, the most in debt, the
most obese, the most addicted, and
the most medicated generation in the
history of this nation. I am going to
say it again, the most in debt,
the most obese, the most medicated,
and the most addicted generation in
the United States. Now, when I read
that I didn't go like, Yay!
I heard it! We did it! No, no.
It is not good news when you hear that.
This is what she says.
She says the problem is that we want
to numb negative emotions.
But you cannot selectively numb
emotions. You cannot say, oh,
I feel disappointment in my marriage.
I'm gonna put it there.
I feel a lack of self-worth.
And I feel a lack of joy.
And I'm gonna put it all there.
And then I'm gonna drink some beer,
eat some Twinkies, and drink some
medication. And that's going to
go away. Because the problem is,
when you numb emotions, you numb
all your emotions. You also numb
gratitude. You also numb thanksgiving.
You also numb a sense of purpose.
And when you numb yourself by these
things, what happens is you feel worse
than when you started. So what do you
do? You drink more beer, eat more
Twinkies, and spend more money.
And you sink deeper and deeper and
deeper. Now I'm gonna tell you that
I believe if you hear the word of
God today and you understand the
revelation of what peace is, you will
begin to live in a whole different
way. Because Jesus says here in the
Book of John, Chapter 16, and I'm gonna
invite you to read it out loud with me.
You're gonna like some of it, not
all of it. Trust me. What Jesus is
saying, you're gonna like some of it,
but not all of it. Jesus is saying
in John 16:33, again it is in red.
Don't mess with it! Jesus says:
I have told you these things so that
in me you may have perfect peace and
confidence. In the world you will
have tribulations and trials and
distress and frustration, but be of
good cheer. Take courage.
Be confident, certain, undaunted.
For I have overcome the world. I have
deprived it of its power to harm you
and have conquered it for you.
And I go like, I like it, almost.
Because Jesus, why don't You just take
away the anxiety, the agitation,
the fear, the distress? Why don't
You deal with the trauma of life?
But what You are telling me is,
I give you My peace. In the midst
of a very broken world you are living
in. Shout peace. Shout peace.
Come on, shout peace one more time!
Why peace? In the Book of John,
Chapter 14, now I've got to bring you
into the picture. Jesus' disciples
left everything they had to follow Him.
You've got to realize they set aside
their fishing business, their lives,
their families, to follow Jesus.
But part of why they followed Him is
because they believed He was going to
instill and put into place an
earthly kingdom. So every time He
says, when you see these things the
kingdom has come, the kingdom of God
has come, they were thinking earthly
kingdom. They were thinking that
they were going to rule here on earth
and they were going to become
governors and senators. They were
seeing spiritual things through
earthly eyes. Then Jesus says,
John, Chapter 14: Do not let your
heart be troubled. Believe in God.
Believe also in me. In My Father's
house are many mansions. If it
wasn't true I would not tell you this.
Look, I am going to prepare a place
for you. And where I go, you cannot go.
And in that moment, I bet you one of
the disciples was like, hey, hey, hey!
Time out! Where's He going?! Did He
say go? What does He mean, go?!
If He goes, I go. What's He going to
do about it? I'm not going to stay
behind! But Jesus says this:
I will not leave you as orphans.
But that's not helping.
I'll pray the Father and He will send
you the Holy Spirit as your comforter
and your help. The Holy Spirit is going
to do what I'm doing right now.
He's going to lead you in truth.
He's going to remind you of
everything that I said. Even greater
works than I do you are going to do
when the Holy Spirit comes.
Oh, it's going to be awesome!
Actually, it is going to be far better
if I go when He comes. Because He
does this work better than Me!
Right now if I'm a disciple I ain't
buying this! I still wanna know,
where we goin?! But then Jesus says,
but I'm gonna leave you something else
as an inheritance. When I go, I am
leaving something that I have right
now, something that rests on me.
I'm gonna take it off me and leave it
on you as your inheritance.
Now, it's in the Bible!
Don't look at me like I'm making this up!
John 14:27. Come on, let's all read
this together. Peace I leave you.
Come on, everybody!
Peace I leave you. My own peace I
now give and bequeath to you.
That's a new word.
Let me tell you what it means.
To leave to a beneficiary after one's
death to pass from one to another.
That is a very big revelation that
you've got to catch. Jesus says,
I give you the peace that rests on Me.
I give it to you as an inheritance.
Not as the world gives do I give to you.
Come on. Do not let your hearts be
troubled. Neither let them be afraid.
Come on, read this annoyingly loud!
Stop allowing yourselves to be
agitated and disturbed. And do not
permit yourselves to be fearful and
intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.
Because My peace will rest on you!
Oh, I love this! You know what I love?
Jesus is saying, take My peace and
stop the nonsense! Stop!
Stop! You don't have to live and
be like the world is that doesn't have
My peace. You don't have to act
around and do all those stupid things
that you do when you want to control
the world. No. If you have My peace,
you will have a different temperature
about yourself. Because I am not
going to sort out the storms.
I am not going to change the world
and make it a better place. Actually,
Jesus says before I come it is going
to get a lot worse than your mind can
imagine. But in the midst of the
brokenness of this world, I give you
My peace. A peace that transcends
all understanding. The harmony of
heaven, the temperature inside of you,
will be different than the temperature
on the outside of you. Now I can tell
you this about Rochester, New York.
We have very cold weather.
Winters are excruciating!
Listen, I come from South Africa.
I can tell you guys in South Africa,
when the temperature drops to about
3ºC in Bethlehem, you know exactly
what I'm talking about. It is in
the newspaper. Here in Rochester,
New York, we live on a -25º C.
It's normal! Listen! -25º C!
So pray for us! (laughter)
But I can tell you this about what
is happening. Our homes on the
inside are insulated. It is not like
our homes in South Africa or your homes.
I mean between us and the outside the
insulation is so thick, we live in a
bubble of happiness. When you are on
the inside we run around with
T-shirts and shorts and it is like,
hey! Party in the middle of winter!
But on the outside you will die in
those same shorts. You will be
frozen to death. The difference is
the insulation around you prevents
you from dying with the cold on the
outside. In the same way, Jesus is
saying this, the peace that is on the
inside will keep you alive in a
broken world that is on the outside
of you! But if you do not have My
peace, you will die of anxiety and
fear, and the trauma of what is
coming and is around you.
This is good preaching!
(applause)
So here is my question. Let me
short cut some things. How do you
act in a storm? How do I act in a
storm? I'm going to tell you what
I do when I have trauma and trouble.
Trust me, like you, I have lots of it!
Every Monday there is a new set of
trauma and trouble that comes my way.
And if you don't know what I am
talking about, live a little!
Monday is coming! You'll find some
trouble. You'll find some storms.
But as soon as storms come my way,
I use all the faith I have to try
and control the storm. In other words,
when the storm comes I get up and
go like, in the name of Jesus, this
ain't gonna happen! I go like,
I bind you, I rebuke you, I curse you,
I kick you, and I'm gonna fight you!
All my energy is expended fighting
the storm. What if I tell you that
it's never God's desire for me to
fight the storm? What if I tell you
that God wants me to use my energy
to do something different than
fighting the storm? Because here is
the truth. I am trying to do
something to something that I cannot
do anything about. Oooh, this is big!
For some of you, that statement can
heal you if you understand.
You spend every, single day trying
to do something to something you
cannot do anything about.
Every day you try and control what
you have no control over.
Here is the truth.
I am going to help you.
Write it down.
You and I have far less control over
people and circumstances than what
we think. Far less! You go like,
oh, I control! No, you don't!
You think you do. But the moment
they walk away from you they're
playing their own game. Let me tell
you something else. At the root of
fear is our realization that we have
an inability to control what is
threatening our lives. And that is
scaring us! When you no longer can
control that. But what if I tell
you God has no desire for you to
control the storms? What if I tell
you He's got something else in mind
for you? You go like, what is that?!
I'm going to tell you another story.
Say thank You, Jesus, for stories!
Mark 4:39. Jesus is with his
disciples and He multiplies five
loaves and two fishes, or three fishes.
Two fishes, my wife says.
So if she's wrong, it's all her! :)
Two fishes. And He feeds 3000 people!
I don't know about you, but if ever
that kind of miracle happens where
I'm at, I'm set for two years!
Whenever the devil comes, I go like,
did you see the fish and the bread?!
That's all I'm gonna tell you.
You know what I mean?
I just tasted a miracle!
But five minutes later, Jesus says
to his disciples, come on, let's
get on the boat and go across this
lake. And the Bible says midnight,
a storm. Isn't it true that midnight
is when it all goes down? At midnight.
I love how the King James says
a tempest broke forth. That's awesome,
a tempest. Let's just give it a name.
Let's just call it Irene.
Irene hit the lake.
I mean, this is like trauma!
These seasoned fishermen are crying
like little girls fearing for
their lives. The Bible says that the
waves broke into this boat.
These fishermen were dying inside.
And they realized in their minds they
were going to die outside.
And now they look for Jesus.
Where's Jesus? He's fast asleep!
I go like, stop, just stop!
Okay, so why is He sleeping?
And we are here.
Why? Because that's exactly what
they said. Because they woke
Him up and go like, Dude! You don't
care that we're gonna die?!
I thought You loved us?!
Do something!
Has your mom ever spanked you like that?
For every word she says, she hits.
(laughter)
Don't tell. My mom used to spank
me that way. Why did you do...!
So Jesus gets up.
I want you to see what He says in
Mark 4:39. Then He arose and rebuked
the wind and said to the sea, come on,
read with me. Peace, be still.
And the wind ceased.
And there was a great calm.
This is the picture in my mind.
Jesus is getting up and he goes like,
what is going on?!
Oh, we're dying!
Peace, be still.
It all calmed down.
What if I tell you there is
something more to that statement
than what we see? I am going to
show you. I want you to separate
the words peace and be still.
Because it speaks to two different
things. I want you to catch this
revelation. The first thing that
Jesus did was restore peace to
the disciples. The second thing
He did was rebuke the storm.
Catch this revelation.
The first thing that He did
was restore peace. Then He dealt
with the storm. And I am here to
tell you, what is more important
to God than dealing with your storms
is restoring your peace.
Oh, you've got to write this down!
The thing that is more important
to God is restoring your peace
before He deals with your storm.
When you understand that you will
put your energy in the right places.
You know why that is?
Because when we do not trust God it
breaks out in fear. Fear is a
manifestation of our lack of faith
and trust in God. Because fear is
bringing us to a place where we
believe that nobody is coming to
our rescue: God is not able to help.
God is mindful of us.
Listen. And at the very root of
faith and at the root of peace lie
our revelation of who God is!
That is where the scripture comes
in where He says, be still and know
that I am God! Because you see,
once you have a revelation of who
God is, fear will be pushed out of
your life and peace will come in.
How is that possible?
Because I'm here to tell you,
when you begin to realize in your
revelation that God is too good to
be unkind. That He is a good shepherd.
That He is a shield about you.
He is the glory and the lifter of
your head. He is the God that is
mindful of you! He will never
forsake the righteous! Their seed
will never beg for bread! When the
enemy comes in like a flood,
His Spirit will raise up the standard
every, single time!! For the eye of
the Lord is on the righteous!
His ear is turned to their prayer!
In the time of trouble you will
call on My name! And I will hear
from heaven! Because My arm is not
too short to help! Am I a God that will
say one thing and do another?
I am not a man that I would lie.
Because He that dwells in the secret
place of the most high God shall
abide under the shadow of
Almighty God! And I will say unto
the Lord, He is my refuge and
my fortress! My God, in You I trust!
The arrow will fly by day and the
plague will come by night, but I
will not fear! For the angel of
the Lord encamps near those
who fear Him! When the Spirit of
the Lord rushes in on me,
He undergirds me! He refreshes me!
He strengthens me!
And I can go on and on and on!!
But it only works when I enter
into His peace. Because you see,
I can preach this all day long,
and we feel good. But it is how
I react when my storm comes.
Because you see, here's the difference.
Jesus used his energy to stay in
the peace of God. They used their
energy to fight the storm.
Oooh, this is big!
Their faith went into fighting
the storm. Jesus' faith went into
keeping His peace. And that caused
Him to sleep in the midst of the storm.
What if I tell you that God wants
you to stay in His peace more than
what He wants you to fight to fend
off the storm? Because when you stay
in the peace of God, God will rise
up and fight for your behalf!
Because that is the way that He
wants you to live! When you enter
into His rest and His peace is over
you, you do not have to fight
the storm that comes over your life.
So let me round this up and let
me finish this message.
Why would the enemy want to steal
my peace? I'm gonna take you
through something. I want you to
get an understanding.
Time is doing good. Okay.
So you know that faith releases the
promises of God over my life, right?
Okay, so before you say right,
let me explain this.
Without faith, it is impossible to
receive anything from God.
So how do I get faith?
Romans 10:17. Faith comes by
hearing and hearing the word of God.
So you hear the word of God.
It falls in your heart.
The way that it grows is you
meditate on it. When you begin to
meditate, if you meditate on the
law of the Lord day and night,
it will begin to rise up on the
inside of you. And here's the truth.
Out of the abundance of the heart
the mouth speaks. So you know what
is filling your heart by what comes
out of your mouth. Oooh, this is
going to be good! So you can't do
this, "Well, oh, I just know my
kids are going to serve the devil.
Because I'm telling you right now
I can see where their little eyes
are going to go! I'm going to
bury every single one of them at
a young age. I'm telling you, my
marriage is just done! I'm telling
you right now, the curse is all
over us, and it's the end, the end,
the end, the end! But God is a
good God all the time!" (laughter)
Like, what?!!
What?!! What?!!
No, let me tell you what you really
believe. You believe that God will
not take care of your kids.
You believe that your marriage
is over, that God is going to
stand by and watch your family
be destroyed. You're just throwing
in "God's good all the time" so you
don't look as terrible as you sound.
Because you see, this is how the
devil works. He's got to have the
same process in our lives.
Because he is after your tongue.
Listen to me.
He is after your tongue!
He is after your tongue!
Life and death lie in the power
of your tongue.
He's after your tongue.
You say, I don't buy it.
I am going to show you why I say
he's after your tongue.
James 3:5-6. This is awesome!
Write it down! Steal a tithing
envelope and write it on the back,
quickly! James 3:5-6. Come on!
Let's all read out loud.
In the same way the tongue is a small
part of the body but it can brag
about doing important things.
A large forest can be set on fire
by a little flame.
The tongue is that kind of flame.
It is the word of evil among parts
of our bodies and it completely
contaminates our bodies. Here it is.
The tongue sets our lives on fire
and is itself set on fire from hell.
Okay, what do you mean, what do you mean?!
Okay, faith comes by hearing, and
hearing the word of God.
It falls in my heart.
I meditate on the promise.
And before long what is in my
heart will come out of my mouth.
Now Satan has got to sell me the
same thing. He's got to sell me
false perceptions and lies that I
receive as truth. In other words,
you go like, oooh, I feel this cramp
in my side, what is that?
He says you know what that is.
That's colon cancer. You know that!
Now you begin to every, single day,
meditate, oh, it's colon cancer.
It's colon cancer. It's colon cancer.
Before long now you tell everybody.
I've got this cramp. I swear as
anything it's colon cancer.
I just know it's colon cancer.
Oh, wait, you laugh, but it is
exactly how it is going down!
Because the Bible says your mouth
produces both life and death.
If you produce death, it will come
and invade. The Bible says that
which Job feared came over his life.
It is calling the evil things.
And I'm here to tell you the devil
has studied you all your life.
He knows how to get you emotionally
upset. He knows when you're in a
situation and you choose to lose it,
you're gonna say things that you
think mean nothing. But you set
emotion and in motion fires that
you surround your life with.
And I'm here to tell you,
for some of you, you are living
the misery that you, yourself,
have created by choosing a path
of setting fire and not walking
in peace. Oh come on!
Some of you say, well, my family
doesn't talk to me. You're the
reason why they don't talk to you!
Because you wanted to get down.
Well, I get easily upset.
Nobody is gonna mess with me.
Maybe you need to divorce yourself
from that. That is not a strength.
That is a weakness.
Can I tell you what is a strength?
When I stand back from being easily
upset, and I go like, I am not going
to be trapped in this. I am
guarding the peace of God that
surpasses all understanding.
My mouth is going to bless and not
curse. I am not going to engage in
this fight because the outcome of
this is going to destroy my
life anyway! I'm going to bless you.
I'm going to love you, in Jesus' name.
I'm going to guard the peace and
I'm going to just walk right by
this temptation to hit you in the head.
And I'm just going to bless you
and love you. And I'm here to tell
you, you double win. Because you
have created life and you have
sustained life. And you sleep like
a baby at night! Oh, this is good
preaching! (applause)
So here's the question.
How do you get peace?
How do you even get peace?
I'm going to ask that the guys
come and help me real quick.
How do you get peace?
I want everybody to open their
Bibles to Philippians 4:6-7.
Two more scriptures, then we're done.
Two more, two more, two more.
How do you get peace?
Where do you start?
YMCA? That is an exercising place
in the United States. Doing yoga
and humming is not going to give
you peace. It is all good for
your muscles. Not good for your head.
Listen. You can eat yogurt all day
long and think about nothing.
Before you get home, you're invaded.
Because Peace is not a
something, it's a somebody!
Jesus is the Prince of Peace.
Jesus is the Prince of Peace.
Jesus alone is the Prince of Peace.
I don't need good feelings.
I need the Prince of Peace to
invade my life. The peace that only
He can give. Okay, let me get you
four guys to come stand right here.
We're going to do this a little
bit different. Stand back to back.
You know how to do this.
Okay, back to back, back to back.
Okay. All right, can you guys stand
just a little bit back?
Okay. Now the scripture says this.
Come on, let's read it together.
Do not fret or have any anxiety about
anything. But in every circumstance
and in every thing, by prayer and
petition, definite request, with
thanksgiving, continue to make your
wants known to God. Verse 7.
And God's peace, which transcends all
understanding, shall garrison and
mount guard over your hearts and
minds in Christ. Stop right there.
Can you see the two words there,
garrison and mount guard.
Please say yes, please say yes.
It's right there.
It's two military terms.
It is two terms that speak about
soldiers fortifying to protect
something. In other words,
the Bible says God's peace is ready
to fortify and protect my mind
and my heart. It is not just
being there, it is protecting me.
In other words, between me and
whatever the enemy brings or
life brings, is God's peace.
And I can choose to enter into that
peace. How do I choose to enter?
He says, don't be anxious about
anything. But the moment anxiety
and fear grips you, he says bring
your prayer requests, your
anxieties, and your fears to God.
Through prayer, supplication,
that means petition prayer,
again and again and again.
With thanksgiving. I love that,
with thanksgiving. Because every
time you thank God it shifts
you from a place where you think
you're needy and you realize that
you're blessed. Oh, come on!
That's big! In other words,
God says, don't be anxious,
don't be anxious, don't be anxious.
Don't be anxious, but when anxiety
comes you can choose one thing.
You can choose to pray.
Bring it to God in prayer and
supplication and petition with
thanksgiving. Then the God of
peace will mount guard and garrison
over your heart and mind.
But you see, I've done this enough to
know my glasses are in the way.
But we don't like to do it that way.
Because we think like,
we can help God.
We go like, God, just so you know,
God, there's a storm brewing right now.
And just help me.
Spirit of the Lord, rush in on me,
because I'm gonna fight this for
my own sake, Jesus!
Oh, I bless you!
I bind you! I bind you, satan,
in Jesus' name!
And I fight you!
And I put you in an arm lock!
And I fight you!
And I come for you in Jesus' name!
Come on, who's life is this?
Every Monday! Every Monday you
come like this.
Come on, who's life is that?
You go like, I'm so exhausted!
I'm just so tired of the struggle!
Wait a minute!
Bring your requests to God through
prayer, supplication, whew!
With thanksgiving.
Then God's peace that is
non-logical, transcends all
understanding. Shall mount guard
and garrison. Oh, come and get me
now, baby! Come and get me now, baby!
Anxiety, fear, trauma!
Oh, don't be a sissy!
Come get me!
You want to lay me off?
My marriage, what?!
My children, what?!
Oh come on!
Isn't this the place where you need
to be?! Hebrews says because we
trust Him! Because we trust Him!
Because we trust Him, we can enter
into God's rest! Because we trust Him!
When I ask my kids at night,
is your heart okay, when they were
small and they'd tell me about
bullies and stuff, I was like,
dude, I've got it. Beat him up!
I'll get Chick, which is a very
large man in our congregation,
to beat his dad up. Taken care of!
If he still clings to that blanket,
he goes like this, then he is telling
me he doesn't think I can take
care of this. Because if I say
I've got it, you know what I want
you to do? Go like, that's really
my dad, and fall asleep. (snoring)
You can choose to fight your anxieties,
your fears. Or you can choose to pray
and you will enter into God's rest.
I believe, more than anything,
Jesus says seek ye first the kingdom
of God, and his righteousness.
And the kingdom is not eating and
drinking and wearing. But it is
right standing, living with God's favor
and approval. And living in His
ongoing peace. So what am I saying?
I'm saying every time scripture says
cast your burdens upon Jesus, you
know how you do it? You don't go
like, oooh, cast my burden. No, no.
You get on your knees. And you say
God, I've got burdens. And I'm
gonna stay right here.
Come on guys, gather around me like
you did there. I'm gonna stay
right here until something in the
spirit feels like this.
All of the sudden, the peace of
God is garrisoned around me.
When I stay on my knees in prayer
long enough over my anxieties and
fears, all of the sudden the peace
of heaven declares it is well
with my soul! Let's pray together.
(applause)
Thank you, Jesus.
We're gonna dim the house lights down.
It is still early.
We made the praise and worship
a little short up front so we can
just spend time right now.
I want to encourage you to not plan
your escape to get to the parking lot
early. But just sit back.
Because the Prince of Peace is here.
He wants to command that peace
over your life. You guys watching us
online, no matter where you are in the
world, no matter where you find
yourself in this moment.
We want God to fix the storms.
But God wants to fix us in
the storms. He wants to restore
peace before He wants to calm the
storm. So I encourage you in this
moment to lean in with us in
this room. And trust God for a
miracle. That the trauma, the
torment, the agitation in the storm
would become non-important.
But that we would trust and reach out
to God for His peace.
Thank You, Father.

I'm going to dismiss the service
