>> Kathy Van Pelt: Hi, welcome to BOT 100. My name is Kathy Van Pelt, and I am your instructor
for this course. Right now, I'd like to show you really quickly how to get into Blackboard
to access the class. The Blackboard website is blackboard.maricosta.edu. So you type that
in the address bar of your internet browser. Next you're going to log into Blackboard with
your surf ID and your password. The user name would be your surf ID, starting with a "w"
and then type your password and then click "log in." Next you're going to find the link
for the BOT 100 class. It will be over on the right hand side, towards the top. You're
going to click that to enter the course. When you enter the course, you're going to see
the course menu on the left. And you need to go through each one of these items. I would
like you to click through each one of these to get familiar with the course. You're going
to need to do the orientation and the quiz and read your syllabus. The orientation includes
reading your syllabus, and doing the orientation quiz. Click this link to go to the BOT 100
syllabus page and then click the syllabus link to view your syllabus. Here's a copy
of the first page of your syllabus. Your syllabus is eight pages. Please read each page. You
can print your syllabus, you can read it online, you can use the down arrow to scroll through
the pages, or you can scroll through the pages with your mouse. Next, click the BOT 100 syllabus
video and watch the video that goes along with the syllabus. I think you'll find it
helpful. Next, you're going to take the orientation quiz which includes a variety of questions.
You can answer all the questions are multiple choice. The answers are in the syllabus. It's
very important that you read the syllabus and understand how the class is laid out.
One of the questions, you're going to enter your first name, last name and your email
address. You're not going to get a correct answer. I need to go and check that and then
give you an score for that. You need to purchase a textbook or an access code for the class.
The link for that information is right here. You can purchase the textbook or access code
from the bookstore or from the publisher. This is what the cover of the book looks like.
When you purchase a book, it comes with an access code. If you do not want to purchase
the book, again, you can purchase just the access code. Either way, you will be accessing
the course online. Toward the bottom of the course menu, there's a How To section and
an FAQ. Please read through those when you're lost or you just want some more information
about the course. I like to hear a student's recommendations. Thanks for watching and good
luck in the class.
