[Carl Sadler narrates]
I was born and raised in the Ottawa Valley.
I was raised on a farm. I wanted to be a farmer.
I loved working in the bush with my Dad in the winter time.
I found out that I'm allergic to everything on the farm -
- from chickens to grain to everything else so [laughs]
I found out that I'm allergic to everything on the farm from chickens to grain to everything else so [laughs]
I graduated in 1973, so I've been working for 40 years now in forestry.
It's just something I love doing.
Grey County has 45 forests. We manage 44 of them.
We have over 8400 acres of forest that we work on.
The County has over 40% forest cover.
So what we're trying to show in County forests is...
if you manage it sustainably and you manage it to good forestry,
you can always have a forest.
Down the road, you'll have a better quality forest,
better quality timber, better quality everything in it.
More wildlife, everything else.
Harvesting trees is renewable,
if it's done on a sustainable basis.
We're leaving good quality trees to produce seed -
for the future trees in the future years.
