I'm Carter Smith and I'm the Executive Director
of your Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
I'm here for one simple reason.
Your state parks need our help now more than ever.
Record drought, devastating wildfires,
associated declines in park visitation and revenue
have created a real sense of urgency
in a time of critical need for your state parks.
If we're going to keep these special treasures open for all Texans
to use and enjoy, we need to raise $4.6 million.
Thankfully, there are 3 simple ways in which we can all help.
I hope you'll join me in doing so.
First, go to our website to make a year-end, tax-deductible donation.
Second, make a donation when it's time for you
to renew your vehicle registration.
And most importantly, because visitor fees pay
for about half of all park operating costs,
go visit a state park this holiday season.
Please act now to help keep your state parks open
for all Texans to enjoy.
Because our state parks won't be the same without you.
