So the Army has taught me to grow up, teach me responsibility, be on my own, which, if
I stayed at the house… uh… I don't… I eventually would a got it… I mean… I
would have had to move out and everything, but I had to do it so much faster. Along with
that I learned with being deployed and goin' out of the countries that we as Americans,
I as an American… uh… take for granted
what we have. Until you go to another country and see how these people are living and these
kids are happy as can be and they have no electronics, no Playstations, no games, they
might have a… one ball and four kids livin' in a room. I'll never… never forget it in
Panama when I saw this house and these kids were so happy and I'm thinkin', "Look at this,"
I mean… would
our kids in our United States be like these kids if they were put in this situation? Some,
maybe, yes, but others, no because we have all the luxuries, so it made me appreciate
a lot of things and realize, don't take things for granted. Uh… it also taught me family.
Uh… that just because you have arguments and you have fights
…um… when I was deployed to the Desert Shield/Desert Storm I vowed to… I had some
grudges, resentments against some people, close friends of mine… um… and I… and
I vowed that when I got back, life is too short 'cause I don't know if I'd be able to
say I'm sorry or… you know… forgive each other so it really made me grow up.
