Broadly what I work on is
innovation policy and so what I'm interested in is how
technological innovation, science and engineering can spur
economic growth and can also spur
job creation. So I study the
various different policies that we have - particularly in the US
to encourage innovation...
with the ultimate aim of spurring economic growth and job creation
One of my areas of research is on the offshoring
of, particularly, high-skill jobs on the white collar side to
places like India. But also manufacturing
going to China and other countries. And what effect does that have - the offshoring
of this type of work...
the factories and so on... on the US economy?
So what kind of impact will it have on the US economy - both good and bad -
as well as on the US workforce.
A lot of people don't realize that what we're off-shoring is not just low-skilled
labor-intensive type work, but in fact a lot of innovation type work too.
And I think that has huge implications for
the US economy and for US job creation.
