If you want to use a shoplight for your photography, you might want to do something like add some
function to it. You can do this by creating a collar that will allow you to do things
by make a snoot for it or a small focused diffuser. Read on to learn how to do it.
Get foamcore.. You can find it at most stores that sell arts
and crafts and you can also find it at many dollar stores.
Choose a width.. Two inches is a good width to start with.
Here, the selected width is the width of the level. Another good choice of a width would
be the width of your duct tape. Start measuring out lines about a half inch
apart.. If you have something that is a little more
(or less), like a deck of cards, use it. Start cutting the foamcore..
You will probably need to have two lengths of foamcore to have enough to go around the
circumference of a 10 inch (25.4 cm) shoplight.
Do this to the two lengths of foamcore and then fasten them together with duct tape..
On the non-serrated side of the foamcore, apply duct tape..
Set the shoplight on a flat surface and wrap the foamcore around it..
Use scissors or a sharp edge to trip it to the correct length.
After taping the outside of the collar, use scissors to cut it to the correct length to
go around the light..
