Welcome to Vision Loss Resources. I'm Kate Grathwol,
CEO and President.
Vision Loss Resources is a private non-profit organization serving the
blind and visually impaired.
Our mission is to create a community of service, strength and support for people
with vision loss.
If you or someone you know is experiencing vision loss you may be
feeling very frustrated by not being able to read your mail or be able to
see your computer and read the email.
There are lots of practical questions that you may have:
How can I feel safe in my kitchen and know that I set the oven to 350?
Vision Loss Resources has been in the community for ninety seven years helping
people walk down this road of adjustment to vision loss.
We have classes, life skill classes that will help you know that you are setting your
stove at 350 and not broil.
Help you to learn the new technology so that you can read your email on the computer,
do internet searches,
and new ways to manage your bills and writing your checks.
If you or someone you know is experiencing vision loss you know that
there can be
feelings of despair - loss of hope: what am I going to do if I can't see?
Sometimes we stop going outside and visiting with friends because we don't
want them to know that we have vision loss.
We have a host of peer counselors - people just like you who've been through
one or many of our programs, who know how to adjust to vision loss and can help you
with the feelings of despair and hopelessness.
So look at our website, look at all the things that we can do that offer you
support and skills and thank you!
