Sports are about learning, right?
For me, it's a learning process.
I began competing 13 years ago and it's been very rewarding.
At a certain point I realized that it didn't make sense to stay at the highest level of competition
and do the same thing year after year.
and it was then that I started Kilian's Quest,
with different projects and records around the world
that would allow me to meet a lot of people.
You have a record, a goal you want to achieve,
you go, you run and you do it.
And the most memorable aspect for me
was the spirit of human adventure driving the project.
Year after year, challenge after challenge, we were brought closer together.
and the truth is, it was a wonderful experience.
One funny thing I remember about Kilian's Quest
is that I pretty much got lost every time.
Needless to say, when we crossed the Pyrenees, we got lost every day.
Or we'd say "oh no, we have to climb up there?"
It's a windy path let's cut through here,
and end up in the middle of scree or forests.
That's what makes things fun, though, right?
Those are good memories.
Then last year, I realized that I had more or less achieved
everything I'd set out to do through Kilian's Quest.
It was time to set new challenges
and ways of motivating ourselves in a much simpler way
with just me, my friends
and the mountain in front of us.
And so began Summits of My Life.
I think it's very important to reflect on what you've done in the past
and everything you've learned
in my case, races, Kilian's Quest and Summits.
There'll be other things, other projects in the future.
It's important to not get stuck in a routine
and to evolve as an athlete by seeking out new challenges.
