Hey guys, what's up?
We're in my house today cause we'd like to show you
some curious facts about Irish houses
So let's check what's different about them and some peculiarities that you find here
To be honest, I don't think Ireland is safer when it comes to the buildings themselves
Some of them have a gate, intercom...
But I think that, culturally speaking, they are safer
There are fewer burglaries and it's safer to live here
The apartment comes completely furnished, which is pretty cool
Once you rent it, everything's there
There's a toaster, cutlery, pots, you don't need to buy anything
It has heating in all rooms of the house
in the bathroom, the bedroom, the living room
It's always warm inside the house, even when the heater's off
But I've noticed that some people don't use the heater here
This is the plug that you use
To plug in your Brazilian electronic devices
having the output in the Irish pattern
This third prong is not actually energy it's a ground wire
This plug adapter costs 2 euros you can buy it at the 2 euro shops
If you want to buy some electronic device and take it to Brazil
you'll need an adapter there as well
and this plug is different from the rest of Europe too
there are some very peculiar things in the bathrooms here in Ireland
the first thing is the switcher that is outside
you turn the lights on in the outside of the bathroom
it's nice to play a prank on that friend who went into the bathroom
it's weird ... there are no plugs in the bathroom
except for the shaver outlet in some cases
This is for your own safety
To avoid any chance of a short circuit
due to moisture and steam in the bathroom
And the bathrooms don't have any windows
There is a kind of a exhaust fan
Also, there are no drains in the bathrooms
And the kitchens have no drains either
In some houses, the water heating system is manual
There is a large heater inside the house
and you need to turn it on to heat the water up
usually 15 minutes before taking a shower
There are a few more things that are different from Brazil
Drinking water from the tap, there are no filters here
You simply open the tap and get some water
At first I thought the tap water had a strange taste
but then I realized that the bottled water had the same taste
so I started drinking the tap water anyway
The stove here is not a gas one, with real fire as you are used to
it's a plate, sort of a grill
I don't really like it, I prefer cooking on the one with fire
It's safer and all, but it's difficult to get used to it
sometimes you burn the food. Well, I did...
Here there is no utility room, where we put the washing machine, the vat
Everything ends up being in the kitchen, and there's no actual vat
It's not a bad thing having to adapt... it's just weird
sometimes you want a wet cloth to clean up the floor
and you need to use the sink in the kitchen or bathroom
Sometimes there's no balcony to hang your clothes in
and you need to use a small indoor clothes hanger
you can't fit a lot of clothes on it, so you need to wash clothes every week
We usually wash our clothes after 11pm, because electricity is cheaper
we hang the clothes and leave the hanger by the window so they get dry faster
Well, these were some curiosities about houses in Ireland
We haven't shown everything, of course, but some important things
So in case you have noticed something different in your house
or if you know about something you'd like to share
