Hi! I'm Travis Connelly. I am a state certified fire-fighter and on behalf of Expert Village,
this is basic fire safety. Another important factor to remember when we are talking about
fire safety is to keep matches, lighters and ignition sticks out of the reach of young
children. They are young and they don't understand that such dangerous things can catch fires.
New lighter sticks and lighters do have new safety features that make it a little bit
better for children such as safety measures that you have to push into light. However,
always keep these away from young children. One way to children from reaching these is
to store these in such a manner that they can't reach the. I recommend that you store
these in a high reaching place that only you and the other adults in the house that need
to use these know where they are at. We recommend that you only take them out to ignite the
fire such as the grill or whatever you might be lighting and then put them back. One thing
that you could keep in mind is that at some point, you should probably teach your children
about the safe practice and use of these materials.
