Review the video until you are able to answer the question.
Without further ado, let us begin the lesson.
It's white's turn. How should white play for the win?
Rg6, attacking the pawns.
because black's king is not close enough to it's pawns.
Now how should white play?
White attacks the pawns. Black moves his king closer
and white takes black f-pawn because the king
is not close enough to protect the pawns.
Instead of moving the king to e6,
black has something better.
Black would like to get his king closer to his pawns,
to help the pawns promote.
What move should black make to help his king get closer?
Pawn to g2 to draw the rook away from black's f-pawn.
Saves the f-pawn, giving black a chance to support it.
However, what move secures the win for white?
Rg5 gains control of the 5th rank,
cutting black's king off at the 6th rank.
This maneuver makes for an easy win. If you do not know,

This is an excellent video learn how to play this type
of position for both, black and white.
The link goes directly to the position being discussed.
When the king approaches the rook how should white play?
Ra5, white must maintain control of the 5th rank.
Thanks for turning in and don't be a stranger.
God bless, good chess, and piece be unto you all.
