Hi, this is Miranda Thacker with your KYTC Minute.
Your safety on Kentucky's roads is our top priority this holiday season.
So far this year, more than 600 people have died in crashes across the Commonwealth -- over
20 percent of those deaths were alcohol-related. To help keep impaired drivers off the road,
we have an app for that. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet introduces the "No DUI Kentucky" application.
Bill Bell with the Transportation Cabinet's Office of Highway Safety discusses the app's
features: Voice of Bill Bell: This app is good for several
different reasons. Number one, it's good for people who are out having a good time and
they want to get a safe ride home. There is a button to help find a safe ride home. Also
there is a button on there to call Kentucky State Police if you see someone that could
be impaired on the roadways. We just ask that if you have a passenger, have them call -- or
nake sure you're in a safe area and you have a safe distance from that vehicle.
For more information -- or to download the app, log onto DriveSoberKY.com.
Remember this holiday season, "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over."
This is Miranda Thacker wishing you a safe and happy new year on behalf of the employees
of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
